is there anything you ALWAYS WANTED TO KNOW?

Yay thanks guys!! I was pretty close with the hot air balloon steering...cos my housemate said there are about 30 places around Melb where the balloons can take off and land. So I though that you would just have to be good with the weather.

Don't believe everything you learn in school. ;)

All that's involved with steering a hot air balloon is varying your altitude so you can reach an air current going in the direction you want. You can use the sandbags to achieve this by dropping them from the balloon, so I guess that counts as steering.

The only thing is that the position of the sandbags doesn't make a difference, only how many of them you have. It has to balance out with how much air you have in the balloon. To go up or down you normally just put more hot air in the balloon or let some out. Ditching some of the sandbags will help you go up, but it makes it a lot harder to get back down safely.

Note: This is only in my world. This has little or no impact on Raz's world. ;)

Hypothetically,;) if someone moved from QLD to NSW do they have to shift their car registration to NSW or can they continue to hold QLD plates?

When you move to NSW you have 3 months to transfer your licence. When you change your licence you have to change your vehicle registration to match.

The difficult thing for the authorities to prove is how long you have been in the state. The good old "It's my first day *giggle*" will last you a while, but you still may get caught out.

A good friend was living in Melbourne for around a year with interstate licence and plates, and when questioned always said he had just moved here, or was still primarily living interstate, and was just here every 2nd week for work. This worked really well until one cop that pulled him over happened to live up the road from him, and had driven past his interstate car every day for a year. :\

Legal reading here and here.

Poo. The NSW registration process is more work and more expensive :(

Not that it bothers me because it was a hypothetical question.

I was speaking to my mum's fiance who has just moved up from wagga wagga about this last night actually.

Apparently victorian rego is the cheapest, then qld, then NSW (well that's only out of those 3 states - but all the others suck so who cares? ;))

Some people apparently register their vehicles at Queensland friends and relatives addresses to get out of paying the higher rego 8o, but i think this was with less-used things such as caravans etc....

Registration (and insurance!) in country areas of Victoria are cheaper than in the city too. My car's still registered at mum's address in Shepparton even though I've been living in Melbourne for nearly 6 years ;)

Sweet, I think I'm going to leave it until next year when I have a pocketful of cash available to throw away swapping it over, and just make sure not to make friends with any police officers!

Rego isn't cheaper, it's the TAC cost based on postcode. But for an quick example read below..

Best I could find at a glance is in relation to motorbike costs in Victoria

Private Use, Primary Producer, or Police Department = $32.90
Private Use with a Health Care Card or Pensioner Concession = $16.40
Recreational Use = $7.10

TAC Insurance Charges in Vic... (based on risk zone of postcode you live in)

126cc - 500cc = $333.30(High), $299.20(Medium), $264.00(Low)
Over 500cc = 455.40(High), $405.90(Medium), $355.30(Low)

*edit* also be warned. Insurance companies know of this so usually the first thing they check is to see if the car is actually registered at the 'owners address' (by way of rent, bills etc in owners name). So if you have insurance and something happens, pretty much can say bye bye to insurance.

Ah, isn't the TAC cost part of registration? Pedantic much!

I did have an accident where the insurance company's had to pay - didn't have a problem with them and was invited to insure again the following year. All correspondance goes to mum who forwards it on.

The only problem I *have*had in the past was when someone made a complaint about me bumping their car (I wasn't even aware the accident had occured it was that minor) and took my plate numbers as I drove off. Based on the information they had on file, the police turned up on my mum's doorstep looking for me! (of course I was in Melbourne!) Poor woman nearly died.

can blind people dream and what happens if the take halucinagenic drugs. what do they see/can they see anything. like do they make up pictures in thier mind or what????

I would think the only way of finding out is to ask someone who was born with sight and subsequently went blind, however, he'd already have images of what the world looked like before he went blind to base his visuals on.

I would assume that people born blind would just miss out on the visual component to their dreams. Maybe make up for it with touch and sound?

A man in a crowded bar needed to defecate but couldn't find a bathroom, so he went upstairs and used a hole in the floor. Returning, he found everyone had gone except the bartender, who was cowering behind the bar. When the man asked what had happened, the bartender replied, 'Where were you when the shit hit the fan?'

there you go
