Is there a way to test for caffine?

Just cos you don't know, doesn't mean there isn't one

There are 4 tests I know of for indicating the presence of caffeine, but they all use reagents not commonly seen.

One of these tests uses a carcinogenic substance, so it is not suitable for user testing, and another is fiddly and requires heat. Yet another, uses a very expensive reagent and the fourth I'm currently working on to see if it can be developed into a safe and easy to use test. If so, I intend to market it through Enlighten.

EZ Test has worked on (and developed) a test for caffeine, which is very easy to use, but it never caught anyones attention. so we figured not to market it.
pm me if you want to know about it.
btw: why would you want to test for caffeine? The dosages in a pill seldom reach absurd levels...so imho it doesn't really hurt...

^ There was some concern at levels of caffeine + MDMA found in tablets circulating around Australia last year. From patients presented to hospital emergency wards, it was indicated these tablets (red mitzi's) were a common factor.

You are correct. It seems logical that there would be some way to get a colorimetric test reaction to caffeine. Sorry for stating it as bald fact, which was wrong. Such a test has not been marketed AFAIK. I was contacted by Eztest when they were developing theirs and offered a sample - since it was being 'developed' and never materialized, I figured that such a test never materialized.

Anyway, point was, there is no caffiene test available to this poster. I think such a test would be very useful, and profitable in the US.

hey friendly, you were the only one interested, so we figured that there would be no demand for the test. I still have a couple of samples so if you want I can send one to you. let me know!
