I'm not bashing religions, period. People should do whatever they want to be fullfilled in their small time on this rock. But most religions promise things like a forgiving god, or more importantly, a euphoric afterlife, and that being human is just a test. Doesn't this mean their deepest desire is to inevitably die? Are people with restrictive religions just wandering around in circles aimlessly like cattle waiting to "return to god" to give them their meaning because they can't individually find it themselves? Why do we foster religion if it puts of the blinders and gives such a beautiful end to our suffering that we don't try to break free during our lives?
Not euphoric afterlife. Look at Matthew chapter 22 verse 23 and on:
23: The same day came to him the Sadducees, which say that there is no resurrection, and asked him,
24: Saying, Master, Moses said, If a man die, having no children, his brother shall marry his wife, and raise up seed unto his brother.
25: Now there were with us seven brethren: and the first, when he had married a wife, deceased, and, having no issue, left his wife unto his brother:
26: Likewise the second also, and the third, unto the seventh.
27: And last of all the woman died also.
28: Therefore in the resurrection whose wife shall she be of the seven? for they all had her.
29: Jesus answered and said unto them, Ye do err, not knowing the scriptures, nor the power of God.
30: For in the resurrection they neither marry, nor are given in marriage, but are as the angels of God in heaven.
Like you, the Sadducees were also picturing a euphoric afterlife where they would put their cocks in women and Jesus tells them calm down, there is no putting your cock in a woman in the afterlife, for, in the afterlife, you will be ANGELISED, you will be SPIRITUALIZED, for you need not put your cock in women, NEITHER shall you die anymore.
