I remember reading this thing about this girl who had this defection where she released oxytocin constantly.. She was extremely open all the time. It ALSO said she had more appreciation for music too.

Would it be from oxytocin?

^I would say no - the oxytocin effects the way you interact / deal with people.

Tonnes of information can be found - Here

Ive abused oxy before. Definitely had zero effect on my appreciation of music. Being around good people and being open minded and experiencing psychedelics and xtc increased my appreciation for music

Oxytocin, not Oxycontin :P One is a hormone, the other is an opiate.

Anyway, there is nothing I have read to suggest oxytocin is involved in music appreciation. But who knows with science, maybe in a couple of years, we'll find that it does.

I'd like to hear more about this girl. Any links? What do you mean released oxytocin constantly? Oxytocin can be released from the pituitary gland into the blood stream, but because it doesn't really penetrate the blood brain barrier (kind of like a gate that surrounds the brain, only letting curtain things in) it doesn't have any effect on the brain. Oxytocin can also be released from the hypothalamus where it is made into the rest of the brain, where it has its behavioural effects. I don't think it's possible to show excess oxytocin release into the brain in a living person.

There is also something called 'William's Syndrome' which is a developmental disorder. One 'symptom' (among many others) is increased trust in everyone, including strangers and people that shouldn't be trusted and increased sociability. We also know that oxytocin increases trust in humans, so people have added 1 and 1 to say that William's Syndrome is caused by excess oxytocin, even though there is no other evidence for it. Maybe that's what you read about?

oh yeah taht's what I was talking about... Idk I read that it was due to oxytocin, is it not?

perhaps her oxytocin release consequently releases serotonin via some brain mechanism i don't know of yet
