Is once a month too much?

What are long term effects of taking molly once or twice a month ?
Out of curiosity, I never have a problem with depression or feeling drained afterwards like some people experience…..

there’s not a lot of proper research on dose frequency like that unfortunately. a lot of people swear by Anne Shulgin’s 3 month rule, but that was simply her saying “i feel like this drug would be best enjoyed 4 times a year spaced out” after using it frequently. the clinical trials run by MAPS did 2 “experimental sessions” (the rolls) spaced 5-7 weeks apart, then stopping for a few months.

MDMA is pretty hard on your noggin and there’s no set guidelines. if you’re doing reasonable doses (a max of 250mg per roll), using vitamins and supplements to reduce the harm, sleeping/eating well, and otherwise taking care of yourself then you’re probably fine. if you’re using large amounts (anything over 250-300mg), it’s probably less fine. your brain needs time to recover between rolls and it’s very person to person. i’ve had times where i roll a couple times with only 2-3 weeks between, but ive always made sure to not make a habit of that and give it a rest after a couple rolls.

1 month between rolls isn’t too bad, at least on occasion. if you’re habitually rolling every month, it’s probably wise to take an extra month or two off every so often. you may not notice any side effects now but that doesn’t mean they won’t build up in the background and present themselves later. the more often you roll with just 1 month between the more likely you are to begin to notice side effects and lose the magic. 2-4 weeks between rolls isn’t a big deal if you don’t do it often. there’s no hard and fast rule but in my experience i’d advise taking a 2-3 month break every 3-4 rolls to fully give your brain time to catch back up.

I think most people blow it out of proportion because the worst thing they've ever experienced from a drug is probably a headache from caffeine withdrawal.

I took an absurd amount of 5-MAPB two months ago, just two days after I had to put my cat down. Yeah, I felt like absolute dogshit afterward. To be fair, I was also dealing with mild benzo withdrawal and, obviously, grieving the loss of my girl. Even then, I don't think the aftermath is as bad as people make it out to be.

I believe there's a lot more that goes into it. Redosing... (especially twice) is a guaranteed way to feel like utter shit afterward, and it's always a waste. Most of the time, I plan my rolls for early in the morning, eat a decent meal, stay hydrated, and get to bed at a reasonable hour.

I think a lot of the "Tuesday Blues" can be chalked up to taking it late at raves, not drinking enough water, dancing all night, crashing on someone's couch when the birds are already chirping, and only getting four hours of sleep.

I think a lot of the side effects that come with ecstasy are when it's cut with something stimmy. It's kept me up all night at times. Clean MDMA taken in the morning will rarely give you problems falling asleep that night. Which is key for resetting your brain after a roll.

You're going to lecture me, but I've taken it once a week for more than 2 years. And the problem comes when you run out. I would go back to drinking beer in the morning. My mood was going back to shit. My mood otherwise has seen significant improvements from taking about 100mg once a week. So, I'll be a guinea pig here and when my brain turns to mush, it could happen.

I also do not experience comedowns, I'm more in the camp of 4-6 week breaks being fine as long as you use reasonable doses, but there's no solid answer on this yet, just educated guesses and subjective experiences.
Ima say yes, ita too frequent. Its doable, but 1x a month you will lose the magic and end up on "whats wrong with mdma thread"
I have used MDMA at this frequency (occasionally delving into higher frequencies, or replacing it with benzofurans or MDA instead), and maybe it's something metabolic with my weirdass physiology, or maybe it's bodyweight related (~100kg), but I've never had it lose the magic and I'm not sure why.

depends wether theres been a history of probelematic use and appropriate protective factors in place and able to discuss their use with some trusted individuals around them i guess

if it's the only candy in the store then once or twice a month will not be any problem. keep hydrated and cool and be smart otherwise.

Interesting Anne's take.

She learnt the hard way. I remember her stating in a conference that she was taking MDMA once every week for writing at a dose of 240mg+100mg.

Additionally, there are comments throughout the pharmacology notebooks (the later ones), of Anne's heavy use of MDMA.

She didn't really mention any major deficits or problems afterwards however...

I'll share but first @Dezi Daddy What is your experience with empathogens?

I also think using it too much, from experience causes the feeling to be "too familiar" .

If you don't have mental discipline, delayed gratification it's unsafe for you.

From someone who abused it about thirty times in eight months , that's about once every week on paper ,lost the magic, took a four month break, nada, waited two months then nada, explored it again, I would feel something but I simply abused it too much and fried whatever receptors.

I then took a thirteen year break. In general, yes it's far too much.

After about twenty to twenty five nights of rolling( I was twenty years old) I would get depressed rolling with my friends bc the ecstacy pills didn't work like they used to. The rolling feeling was maybe a five on a one to ten scale. The first two times were 10s and nines.

Finally I said it's not worth it and took a thirteen year break.

I'd say the abuse caused cognitive abilities to lessen .

. Even once every 3-4 months caught up with me after a couple years of doing this with empathogens, where has to take a full year break.

After the thirteen year back got the rolling feeling " magic" back. Used empathogens once every three months rule, for two years, this was using 5 mapbs ( which mg per mg is world's stronger than mdma, is say 2xs) , and 6 apb , then had a severe emotionally super difficult time.

Since then no more than twice a year. Some people have done it back to back nights, two times in a year. I've done it two weeks apart in 2017, was fine, then finally had an emotional breakdown. Crying. Sad.

I think it depends. It's better safe than sorry. I've been through severe emotional comedowns too many times to count.

Even on 100 mgs mdma , which if you haven't abused it, and haven't used in over a year, I rolled very hard on 100 mgs ,the magic feels amazing then after two or three days it fades, almost feels fake, and didnt feel so good, so used some special k to help with the comedown the next couple days, then did lsd the next weekend.

Btw the above isn't recommended or typical for me, just something I did . Lsd was super emotional, as I had a cat pass and he was sick and I cried so hard on 90 mcg lsd

The best thing you can do it get to sleep afterwards and sleep a full eight hour sleep

If you only do the same drug, which I used to, empathogens, it works on one area of the brain.

I used to would only roll with people whether it be friend, or a girlfriend at the time. Now I can do it alone , I still like to at least go where people are , and pay for a massage as on an empathogen seems to amplify things, even coming down it helps a lot

It's far better to solo experience lsd, mdma, then ketamine, then shrooms, rotating them, this way the mdma or empathogens come out to one , two times a year or even zero times a year.

I'm guessing most here are forty years old or younger despite not knowing to not do the same compound repeated . I didn't know better at one time.

And no not really a fan or combining compounds, although have heard special k is amplified on mdma and would like to maybe try a smaller dose, or ghb for sleep. Sucks ghb isn't sold legally the market anymore bc some bad apples ruined it for responsible people .
