Like others have said, different people have different tolerances for addiction. I smoked every other day for about 2 weeks and got cravings. The worst is when you first wake up in the morning and it seems like the day can't start without a cigarette. It's like having another bodily function like eating and peeing that you have to deal with whether you like it or not. It's more addictive than coke IMO.
I hated the cravings, so I decided to stop after about a month of 10/day smoking. The catalyst for my stopping was getting mono -- my throat was so swelled up, it was impossible to smoke without a powerful painkiller.
Horus, if you're worried about yourself getting hooked, stop smoking. It's not worth it. Maybe if it was a "fun" drug, but I never found it to be fun aside from the first couple times where you get a headrush. Your friends control their own lives, though, and all you can do is set an example and tell them your opinion, but you can't make them stop if they won't listen to you.
