Is my HPPD even HPPD?

HPPD is most likely caused by an imbalance between the excitatory/inhibitory post-synaptic tones controlled by interneurons in layers 2/3 of the visual cortex. The over excitated state of the visual cortex gives rise to a "leak" of excitation that spills over onto other neurons and causes the positive symptoms of tinnitus, ghosting, halos, etc. Basically all the symptoms that are caused by an over active visual processing systems that lead to and fro from the retinal pathway leading to the visual cortex causing double images.

Every other symptom I believe is caused by the simultaneous inability to maintain enough fast spiking inhibitory bursts to maintain that E/I balance. This is where the trails, light sensitivty, palinopsia, visual static, etc. come into the picture.

HPPD ? Or just noticing ?

lysergic most of hppd is "normal" stuff made salient by perhaps more connections or increased signal output in the visual cortex. floaters can get worse, noticed more often, etc

Okay so if I look out the car window and see A floater that shoots other floaters in burst like a flower pattern this is just me ? I explain it to alot of people that have never used drugs and they say it is perfectly normal, I have also read that its the different liquids in your eye causing a shadow on your vision. I have persisting static that I cant block out, its always there and ive always noticed it, it just gets worse some times. I can literally see the air when outside or with my light off [Aeropsia]. Also the static stops about 2 inches around peoples bodys and creates an aura-like effect, I get circles around peoples heads that looks like A halo aswell. Since the first time I took multiple hits of Lucy I notice alot of stuff that is actually there, but that I wouldnt have notice normally Eg; Faces looking back at me in the grass, and pretty much anything natural making up some sort of pattern or picture, I find this aspect fairly amusing (: Peace.

The fact is that powerful hallucinogenic compounds, like MDMA, LSD, and pscilocybin, etc. have been proven to alter the production and action of proteins, at the genetic synthesis level, that remodel and change the activity of neurons in the optic tract and in the visual cortex. The overall change in perception of the environment would be do to these genetic, microscopic level changes that overall restructure and "reprogram" the way a neuron responds to external stimuli and what kind of excitatory currents are sent down to the corresponding neurons in the visual processing neuronal circuits.

the liquid shadow effect is very different from the flower pattern effect. the shooting chunks of light (that can make a flower pattern) sorta seem like neurons or retinal cells having maxed out light, and that area of maxed out light floats/burns across the visual feld

the liquid shadow effect is just gunk on the eye lens that just floats about randomly, and it's shadow so it's darker but also really clear. the blobs of max light usually move in straight lines or curves and they're bright/colored

i guess we should make sure we're using the terms in a similar way

but yeah, you can see most HPPD effects without ever taking psychs. psychs just change the visual system so it's more excitable. and apparently some of that excitability spills over to anxiety too for many people with hppd. and during times of anxiety it gets worse. of course, in almost any case you can't see the effects as intensely if you would after getting hppd from a bucketload of trips (though most people who get hppd, iirc, get it on one of their first trips. if you don't, and get it after tripping a lot, it's more likely than not to go away over a shorter time than if you get it quickly (weeks to years))

same here but if that happens while not tripping it's during more stressful times. i definitely don't enjoy it, even if my hppd is subclinical. i do enjoy how my mind is naturally really trippy though. it's always been like that, but more so after using psychs

i'm not saying your brain is normal visually. i'm just saying that the hppd effects are often exxagerations of what many can see sometimes without any psychs, because it depends on the excitability of the V layers
