Is MDMA fat soluble?

I've been searching around both here and the net in general and I can't seem to find much info on how soluble (if at all) MDMA (powder aka molly) is in fat. I can find plenty of references to it being highly soluble in water, but does that imply it's insoluble in fat? I've run across one mention that MDMA is more soluble in fat than MDA, but couldn't find anything on MDA's solubility in fat either.

Anyone know?

Mods, any chance I can get this moved over to the Advanced DD board? Maybe someone there knows...

MDMA itself (the free base!!!) is an oily liquid. This one should be readily soluble in fat.
If you're talking about white crystals, then I assume we are considering the hydrochloride salt. This is still soluble in 2-propanol (fairly polar) but I guess completely insoluble in any fat...

Peace! Murphy

Depends what you mean by 'fat soluble'. Do you actuallu mean long chain fatty acid triglycerides or just non-polar solvents. The stadard for measuring partition coefficients (polar:non-polar solubility ratios) then it's 1-octanol

Sorry I should have been more specific. When I mentioned "powder" in the original post I was implying the hydrochloride salt.

I was actually thinking more along the lines of say, cocoa butter. ;)

short answer is no, the .hcl salt is not soluble in fats, meaning like dissolving >1g in 100ml kinda soluble. but if you have enough fat.... then you could probably dissolve perhaps a gram in 10 litres, so perhaps 20g would dissolve in one happy meal
longer answer is that it is probably possible to get it to 'dissolve' as an emulsion in cocoa butter as the butter contains water. why would anyone want to do this???

I can't think of a reason at all. The emulsion idea sounds like it might still work though.

On a completely unrelated note, here's a trivia fact for ya: Most suppositories are not actually made of wax as some people wrongly assume from the color and texture, but cocoa butter, which is more solid than most fats at room temperature and has a melting point just a few degrees below body temperature.

^ And that's why the texture of chocolate is so nice; it has that melt in the mouth quality (or melt in the arse if you're that wat inclined! =D)

Right I'm off to the kitchen to search for some chocolate now (it produces a craving not far behind CNS stims for me!)
