For a long time, I was doing really good at sticking to 3 G of fentanyl a week. For perspective, obviously I'm not talking about 3 G of pure fentanyl, in ohio, it's just sold by the gram, because that's how heroin was sold, but it's like 99.9% cut. Basically a half gram is about the same as a bun, 10 bags. It's like 70 to $90 for a gram.

Lately, I've probably been doing four. This week I made it a goal to really cut down, but so far I haven't. I'd like to be able to taper down to like 2 g a week, even if it means I'm not really getting high. 2 G a week would basically be like $140 a week, basically $20 a day, which is still expensive, but not so expensive as to like put me in debt. In a perfect world, I wouldn't do it at all, but it is something I enjoy doing and I naturally struggle with depression and anxiety, and fentanyl's really the best drug there is for that.

I know everyone says you pretty much have to quit cold turkey, but like people who are addicted to food, they don't quit food cold turkey, they have to learn to control their cravings and just eat less food. Has anyone had success either quitting drugs by slowly reducing the amount they take, or just like cut their drug use in half and actually kept it at half?

It depends on your selfcontrol. All is possible man, even cold turkey that for me is no way. I have problems with selfcontrol so I tried to quit opioids by myself and it was impossible. I did it with methadone( not from fentanyl).

You can wean off of anything, weaning off is the exact inverse of your way on, which is why it works, but you must exercise something particularly alien to the game of opioid addiction, self-control, a very many people just cannot do so, which is why CT also works so well, its a game of pin the tail on your choice of poison!

I had success with it when fent just hit the scene a few years ago when people still called it “China white”. I did one cold turkey withdrawal that my parents literally thought I was dying from pancreas rupturing or something. They made me go to the hospital and I couldn’t tell them or the doctors I was just getting off drugs.
The second I relapsed weeks later I got pretty bad back in it but I knew I had another home from school a few weeks ahead. So I tapered successfully down from a g to .75 of a g to 50, gradually after that to .3 then .2 then none. Also I switched to drinking pretty heavily at the time which isn’t for everyone It was a pretty shitty transition but it is ABSOLUTELY possible. If you’re not afraid to go to a doctor they can get you on a treatment plan. I did it solo and it was about a 2 to 3 week process to feel normal.
I’d recommend treatment if possible, but you won’t die from withdrawal. 3 days of hell once you actually quit then you’re over the hump and can taste and smell things. The dreams subside. The sweating…. Just try to taper for the next few days and see if you can handle the discomfort. Set goals… pre measure what todays dose is. Then premeasure tomorrows dose slightly smaller. Do it now so you don’t do the same amount. Set timers on your phone saying “I won’t smoke for this many hours”. Remember you’re loved and not alone.
The best feeling is getting back to being you without this monkey on your back. I was completely alone and sought no help. Counseling from a pro or even just a trusted friend or forum helps. Try to get out and away from the people that made this possible to be a junkie. Tapering WORKS if you let it. My first and second experience coming off fent were WORLDS different. Hope you the best
