Is it possible for me to take MDMA?

I have always enjoyed a little bit of MDMA once every four months when going to a party.
The problem is that I am currently tapering my Diazepam-usage. I was prescribed the pills for a certain illness and got addicted to them. During this process of diazepam-withdrawal (and apparently for a long time after recovery also) I am not able to drink alcohol because, so I have read, alcohol and benzodiazepines influence the same kind of receptors in the brain. I don't know a lot about that, so excuse me if I don't put that into words correctly. All I know is not to touch alcohol, so I don't.

My question now is: am I allowed to use MDMA, or does MDMA also (partially?) influence the same part of your brain as benzodiazepines do? Is there any way MDMA could influence my progress in a negative fashion? It's important to me as I do not want to hold back my withdrawal-progress, but if I could still use it safely at a party without taking that risk I would be quite a happy man :)

Thank you in advance,

MTM

Well I haven't really had much difficulty with my withdrawal yet. I'm using a very slow tapering schedule and haven't had any cravings at all. I'm just wondering if the MDMA will set me back in the way alcohol sets you back when you withdraw from benzo-usage.

I have had a really bad reaction from taking benzos and alcohol it totally fucked up my sleep so heads up on the decision not to take alcohol.

Personally from experience of dealing with a really long term comedown of mdma I would say my interactions with prescription medication including benzos has not aided my recovery at all and just made it worse.

In your case looking at it from a benzo recovery perspective I would take the same approach and leave off all other drugs whilst trying to deal with your addiction problem.

Benzos certainly fuck with the brain and so does MDMA so looking at it in this very basic way I would leave off the MDMA until full recovery is achieved.

Thanks for the advice futura.

Sadly it takes the brain quite a while to fully recover from benzo's. Even after withdrawal in a lot of cases the brain needs at least 6 months, in some cases a year or even more. Guess I'm gonna have to live sober for a while then :) atleast I can still use kratom, which I have found to be even quite helpful on the days that the diazepam-withdrawal does get tough. Don't know if kratom is much of a party drug, though. Haven't actually used it in such a setting yet.

If any other people have any insights regarding my original question, it would be much appreciated :)

Thanks, MTM

I never trusted pills from my doc cause my father has been on meds since I was a kid and they ALWAYS dissapoint it seems... so I smoke indica during my recovery.. helps me sleep, eat and lol sometimes... Just a tip if you need something to use while recovering

Once again, thanks for the advice guys! Will definately take it into account. And @ exstazy: do you mean that weed has no GABA-interaction in the same way diazepam and alcohol do? (I live in the netherlands, so if I could smoke weed every now and then, that would be a pretty nice break :) )

"weed" Is a mixture of cannabinoids, namely CBD & THC. CBD is shown to reduce anxiety, THC the opposite
