    Welcome Guest!

Is it just me, or does techno music still suck even when you're rolling?

Pretty sick looking party. It's always nice to see EDM events where everyone is having a good time. There seems to be a lot guys at that event though.

in the 90's raves in the UK were huge

heres a smaller old skool warehouse party from 1992

Oh, I know all about Fantazia and the "second summer of love". ;) Just saying that I love the atmosphere in those old vids. Everyone seems to be having an awesome time and there don't seem to be too many shaddy people and posers.

I think I like the modern ravers more than the old school style in the videos. They're off in their own world, spaced out and dancing. I much prefer getting packed in close to other people, everyone dancing together, yelling, hollering, jumping, hands in the air.

Everyone has their own preferences =) Personally I don't like being packed in close to other people. I want to be able to dance -- not just jump =D I'm still all about the oldsk00l parties. Things were a lot more innocent back in the day it seems, but I could just be looking at stuff through nostalgia-fueled eyes =)

theres so many different genres inside of the label 'techno'. if you like rap, listen to some dubstep, if you don't listen to house or trance. but in the end, what you enjoy not rolling is what you'll enjoy even more when you are rolling. i used to roll alot in 2006-2007 and loved rap, there for always listened and did lightshows to hip hop songs. not gangsta rap or anything.

O I totally get what you mean about hating a type of song when ur rolling. It's all about the mood you are in tho and
Techno is awesome IMO cuz its so amphy

At raves when I'm rolling and some gay slow paced house song or some weed song (like chill regae type) comes on I get really pissed and it gets under my skin soo badly. that type of shit shouldn't even be at raves, but i guess in cali at raves theres a stage for everyone (like 3-6 different stages per rave all playing different types of music)
Normally i go for hard fast paced electro or hardstyle tho

thats what i mean, the faster paced techno style music it just gets you moving makes the buzz so much better

I remember hearing someone speculate that preference in music is influenced somewhat by the popular drugs of the time. It makes me wonder if adulterated pills have shifted people's preferences from floaty trance-style music to harder, dancier, speedier stuff.

Just a thought. 8)

Haha! There may be some truth to this.

well that makes at least some sense, because around here Dubstep is huge, and while people still take pills or eat acid occaisonally, the big drugs to do are alcohol, weed, and K

lol.. it's scene driven =) Drugs are part of the scene (like it or not). Each sound has its drugs and basic culture behind it that came from the original sound and culture of its time (although the genre sound and drugs can change over time in various cultures where it's popular). Dubstep is totally downer music. I can't stand the stuff, but I'm into MDMA, mephedrone and speedy rolls. I prefer happy hardcore, dnb -- faster tempo'd stuff :D It's different for every scene =)

Dub step aint bad but not Really my cup of tea. Nothing gets you buzzing like hardcore or even techno but techno I only really enjoy when i'm fucked but I love old skool hardcore cant beat it!

old sk00l hardcore's the best <3 no doubt. Whether it's happy, gabber, or straight up hardcore, I love it all.

I did hear this badass version of War of the Worlds that Levictus showed me the other day that was dubstep. :D
