is heroin and Oxy really that similar?

ive only snorted heroin, so i cant compare to shooting it, but then again ive only snorted oxy as well
i again easily say oxy always got me way higher, but heroin is always of questionable quality

Never taken Oxy, but I have been told by friends they are almost interchangable.
Obviously they are different drugs, and don't feel exactly the same, but seeing as they are both powerful opiates, a nice dose of either will bring about a distinctly similar nodding state.

Similar but not the same. Heroin provides immediate intoxication when IV'd, nodding off etc. Everything around you doesn't seem important and theres a tranquil peace and a feeling that nothing can hurt you. While Oxy either IV'd or snorted gives you the tranquillity but without the total intoxication where you constantly nod. I do find Heroin superior to Oxy and was quite suprised when the recent "fave. opiate poll' had Oxy favored over Heroin. Others might disagree but thats my opinion.

It's really just all relative to the amount of herion or oxycontin you shoot/snort/ingest. 20mg of oxycontin might not hit you as hard or cause you to nod like a normal injection of herion does. But 40mg and up is another story. They are similiar but so are klonopin and valium. Some like herion, others oxycontin.....I would take oxycontin over herion any day.

I find that they are very similiar as well.. I think that I would take Oxy over heroin though because of the duration of Heroin... I don't think that it lasts long enough or as long as Oxy does.

well Oxy is called Hillbilly Heroin, but ive never done heroin so i wouldnt know
I had plenty of experience with both and when it gets right down to it, I could give a fuck which one I do. When you an addict , the are equally as valuable, although I never had to pay cent for an oxy and dope cost me alot so I guess that would be the only reason I would prefer oc.
If money wasn't an option I would prefer dope. Most ppl prefer oxy because its a pharm and heroin has the bad stigma but I find heroin more gentile on the body.
My point is , it really doesn't matter if you looking for one particular high

I prefer Oxy because I think the high is more intense and longer lasting. The bad stigma that it has means nothing to me. Another thing that I like about Oxy is that you know what you are getting every time, it is going to be the same strength and quality every time.

This is like comparing Xanax and Ativan. I like dope more because it's fun to shoot and is DIRT cheap by comparison. It costs $40 for an OC80 which will get somebody high once or twice. An $10 bag of dope will get you high 3-4 times tho, and will last at least as long as the OC high does. H is just more economical.

I find em' very similar. If you take enough oxy to nod vs. enough H to nod, you're in two very close places. I also think the euphoria is almost ideantical, with Oxy slightly ahead. Price is too relative to count in comparison anyway. H certainly is more sedating, but all these things are subtleties. They're nuances that most inexperienced opiate users would be hard pressed to notice. My friend who hardly ever does Opiates couldn't tell the difference between the Percocet high and the Morphine high. Go figure...

i agree, who the fuck decided hillbillies use it so much? the hillbillies in my town are still out drinking whiskey and looking for gays to roll like they've always been, and im sure less than 1% of them use oxy

Also most people I talk to, and from my own personal experiences, say that Heroin doesn't last as long as Oxy does. I think most people enjoy it more because of its cheap price.

When I used to shoot heroin daily..I had my one and only encounter with oxy.. I was damn excited with all the attention it receives in the U.S and its supposed stronger euphoria and stimulation...
well..I pay $50 AUS (soo like $25 US) for 2x 20mg and 1x 10mg oxys (i think the brand name is oxyfast or something similar..the name escapes me but it is something like that...rarely prescribed over here at all) Anyways crushed them all up..made em into 2 nice lines..snort...dirty taste...dirty drip...the supposed euphoria that I was waiting for....NEVER CAME.. felt weak as hell..pretty disappointed considering I could of bought a bag of heroin with that money and nodded out hard... ah well

Considering that a shot of heroin would last me 4-5 hours..injected..I imagine if I had shot oxy..it would have lasted like an hour max! 50mg of oxy snorted lasted like 2 and a half hours (the actual buzz was less than this maybe just over an hour..the rest was just residual effects)
So while it is not fair to compare the two substances by different methods of administration...oxy just doesn't seem that worthwhile to me. IV administration of oxy just doesn't seem worth it either..the rush is meant to be short-lived and the high dramatically shortened..plus I don't fance shooting pills.
