So, Im assumiong this is the most appropriate forum for this topic..

I read Trainspotting and just finished Porno(trainspotting's sequel).. I personally thought they were both amazing books, Trainspotting far surpassing the movie.

Has anyone else read any of his other books, such as The Acid House?? I was wondering how good they are, and if they compare to Trainspotting..(Money is a rare commodity here).

^ i've read them all. i'm sure you cold get them all at your local library?

for me, trainspotting is his best work. perhaps it is because it was his first, his freshest so to speak and introduced so many wonderful characters and ideas with impact.

porno is also excellent - better than i thought it would be.

i think glue is his second best book because of the depth of detail and the epic timeline.

filth is a great read but a hard read. it feature some of the grossest characters and set-pieces in his work. i know a few people who like his work but didn't enjoy filth.

same goes, in a way, for marabou...

the acid house is enjoyable. i'm a big fan of the short-story and there are some great ideas in this collection.

Funny that book has me speaking like them too...

When I get pissed at people I call them a doos cunt.. Call people punters, and I say ken?, skaggy bawed, and likesay.
 
I recently read Trainspotting and Porno, now I'm hooked... Irvine Welsh is fantastic!

Now I'm off to find all the other books he's written and buy them...
 
I've just read Marabou Stork Nightmares, and Porno. I'll have to make an effort to read more by him. Marabou Stork NIghtmares is really quite disturbing.
