Hello Everyone,
I am new to the forum. My goal is to connect with honest, reliable decent people who are like minded and suffer from the same ailment that I have endured for the last 10 years. I have found that getting reliable sustained treatment from bold, courageous doctors in New Jersey has become somewhat of if I may "like a needle in a haystack". I suffer from what is called Failed Back Surgery Syndrome, Chronic Pain Sufferer. I've underwent 5 surgeries, 2 procedures and many many PT sessions, blocks and epidurals. Finally, I was fitted with a spinal cord simulator. This device is still implanted and is off. So, i got a battery in my butt and s lead running up my spine.
After all of this, it was found that pain management through medications would be the best course of treatment for me. The doctor who proposed this was and is a bold and very understanding Dr. His approach to treatment is "Pain can be managed". He stated that we try everything until we find what works. Well, after years of continuous pain management he can no longer prescribe the narcotics for me. The rule now is, A primary physician can prescribe for the short term, but for chronic cases, it is required that these patients be referred to a licensed pain management specialist. Well, those are few here, and the ones who are here go through injections and various other procedures and maybe prescribe up to 30mg twice daily if you're lucky. Well, it has become a situation where the people who are suffering the most have the hardest time getting the treatment they need, so we start acting like drug addicts, looking anywhere and everywhere for medications that ordinarily we would get from our physician.
I for one would like to have a sustained pain management doctor.
