I have a friend. She's seen me and other friends roll several times. In the past she's just stuck to drinking. She's never had any depression issues. I have. Even before I was introduced to MDMA.

She wants to try it. A part of me wants to say, "Yes, go for it," but the other part is hesitant and worried that she may end up liking it too much like some other friends. My other friends have told her how great it is. But I'm scared... I'm scared she'll try it and become psychologically addicted or depressed and messed up because of it even though she doesn't have depressive symptoms now.

Agh, I don't know what to do. Advice please?

Introduce her to Bluelight and then to the Ecstasy Directory and get her to start reading and get educated so she can make an informed decision.

Like Maz said, tell her to do her research and decide for herself. I've introduced several of my friends to rolling but always with caution. All of them have since become occasional and responsible MDMA users, you just need to tell them that it is a powerful drug and should be treated with respect and everything should be fine.

I love doing it with first-timers, because there is absolutely NOTHING like the second your first roll hits you.

Yep...all you can do is make sure she is very educated about all the pros and cons before hand. If she still wants to try after that, she well be well informed and know what to avoid before she gets into trouble :) If she is well educated on the drug and its risks and harm reduction ans she still abuses then...thats what I call natural selection :)

Best thing to do IMO is take a new roller to a big rave and make sure that everyone that passes by knows that it is their first time. I think just about all ravers want to make your first time on E the best and will help in any way they can.

Bingo. Had I not researched E for 1-2 months before trying it, I would've been one of those kids popping every damn weekend. Even after being educated, I went through a honeymoon period and almost abused the 1 month minimum rule. If she reads Bluelight and educates herself, she'll also have you to help her enjoy and not abuse it.

This is surprisingly true. I thought at first it would be better for them to feel it out at a smaller event, but it's turned out to be completely the opposite in my experience.
