I'm asking the fucking questions!
I don't know if this is in the right section so mods feel free to move.
This question is in regards to steroid injection into the thigh 1inch needle 1ml fluid 23gauge needle

When I've been injecting I've been getting weird pains/spasms maybe in my leg when I've been injecting. I'm not familiar with the feeling because I've only injected twice.
It feels kinda like a pressure in my leg when I insert that's a bit painfull under the skin. Am I hitting a nerve or blood vessel or what? I've just pushed on past it the past 2 times and ignored it, though on my first attempt I pulled out and reinjected because the pain was unfamiliar.

I feel this is better suited to bdd and not steroid discussion because people don't just use IM for steroids. Still unsure if this is in the right place though.

Anyway any opinions are appreciated
Thanks,
Nolys

^ heya,

there are a few things that could be going on. you might be hitting a nerve - there should be no major nerves that close to the surface but there are cutaneous nerves. the other possibility is you are tensing your muscle (voluntarily or involuntarily) and causing a spasm. the needle length could poss be too small too, meaning you are giving yourself a cutaneous injection. whereabouts do you inject exactly? do you pull the plunger back slightly to check you aren't in a blood vessel?

I'm going into my outer thigh muscle with a 1.25inch needle at a 90 degree angle. I don't jab right in though I go in slowly could this be the problem?
Its not overwhelming just a bit painfull and its before I actually push the plunger in, + yeah I make sure to aspirate.
If it is a nerve I'm hitting, should I push through and inject anyway?
