Hello. I really enjoy psychology. I am currently taking 11 units at a Community college. The problem is I messed up earlier in my year (slacking off) but have recently come to terms and matured quit a bit. I Have quite a low grade in my algebra 2 class (60%) and my English class if very tough, i have a C. I want too be able to transfer with my girlfriend (she is a 4.0 student in HS) in 2011. My question is that should I drop my religions class. I haven't been keeping up and with all the work I am doing in both English and Algebra, I think it would be safer to drop this course and do my best in these. Would a withdraw look bad and does anyone know if I need to take religion for my career path? I am looking to talk to a school councilor but its Friday! :)

If a psychology department is going to require any religion course(s), it's going to be determined by a given school (as contrasted with an overall theme across the country). So this makes it a bit difficult for us to answer definitively, and more of a question for advisers within your current school and potential future school. I would for sure ask this question on Friday.

IMO, the WD would be worth it if you could really bring your other courses up to, let's say a 3.0 average. A 3.0 plus a WD looks better than a straight 2.5 or so. Reason being, the WD can be explained away in terms of a bad classroom environment, (unfortunately) missing a single test session, being sick without pardon from assignments, and things from that lot.

So it does, in the end, come down to how confident you are that such a withdraw would allow you to boost your grades in the other courses. Sure, it's kind of a risk, but if you do take it, work really hard in the other classes to compensate.

I wish you the best of luck. Let us know about your decision.

I have decided I will drop it. I cant go anytime without school. I love learning. So If I do need it I will retake it along with another course during summer. Thank you, you were a great help!

:)

I had 3 F's and 3 W's in the beginning and I was able to transfer into a good school. My grades rocked towards the end though.

It probably depends on the school. Send an email to the admissions office and ask.
