My insurance just quit paying for Actiq since I don't have cancer. I take 4-1200Mcg lozenges aday plus my oxy, methadone, and other non's.
What would one suggest for breakthru???
I could use 10 actiqs in an hour and do nothing for a high but they are great for a quick-short painkiller.
The only thing I can think of is 30mg Roxi, but know I will only get maybe 4 a day.
Or 8mg Dillies and hope to get enought to stock pile em.
Even 24mgs Iv does notta.
Or should I try Opana 10mg IR.?
I never have had em b4.
Not looking 4 high as much as break thru pain.
I think it is impossible 4 me 2 get a buzz anymore after 15 yrs of large doses.
But as long as I can walk again I will b happy..
Never lived near the big H or knew where to get any of fear I would fall in love..

Well you could get fentanyl patches and eat them... 30mg roxis would be your best bet... Opana IR rocks but you'd have to snort them. Fent is so strong I don't know what short acting med sod be good for your tolerance which has to be through the roof. Maybe if you could take multiple Roxi 30s at a time or multiple opana IRS at a time. I hope you get the answers you are looking for.. You should seriously talk to your dr about this. I wish you the best of luck!

rather than consulting a forum consisting of users looking to get a high i strongly recommend you discuss this with your Dr. explain to him your insurance situation and that without the actiq you're unsure of what to do for breakthrough pain.

Re: Actiq / Insurance

This has become common place. Insurance stopped paying on most policies once the cost became very high. Cephalon has put through numerous price increases over the last couple of years and it's now extremely expensive.

Your best bet is to get your Dr to talk to a compounding pharmacist to make them for you. As long as you get a strength not commercially available, it's perfectly legal....Many have been forced to go this route. You can also get your Dr to Rx you straight fent and make your own....put drops on a gummy bear or something. Some have done this as well. I recommend the compounding route.

If you've been well adjusted to Actiq for many years, nothing else will probably work, due to your tolerance.

Best of luck to you.
