Bupe Insufflated vs sublingual buprenorphine?

Hi everyone, I have a question regarding buprenorphine/subutex.

I detoxed myself a couple of years ago faster than the clinic prescribing my medication knew, so have a casserole dish full of strips of 2MG Buprenorphine/subutex.

I do enjoy a opiate high still every now and then, and think that most recreational users of buprenorphine snort it instead of taking it sublingually correct?

I was wondering how long the onset of action is for insufflated/snorted vs sublingual administration, and if I am wasting a large amount by snorting it?

I am dosing throughout the day, and just took my last 2MG line for the day. The high feeling seems to have worn off from earlier, it seems sniffing them does give a different buzz but it doesn't last as long, and was wondering how long I can expect it to take for the 2MG I just sniffed to kick in?

You are not wasting anything by snorting. The bioavailability sublingually is 30% and of snorting its around 40-60%, so under optimal conditions your dose is about twice as effective nasal than sublingual. The onset of sublingual should be around 40-80 minutes, the onset of nasal 30-60 (Psychonautwiki).

Ok thats great to know! So snorting is up to double the bioavailability? Also onset time is around half compared to sublingual, that is interesting to know.

Yes, snorting ideally doubles the BA.

I see, I have so far taken 2MG in total by snorting today, 1MG earlier in the day then another 1MG about 20 minutes ago.

Tomorrow I think I will take a break from using them though, as I don't want to build up my tolerance or become dependent on opiates again.

Everyone else beat me to it. You're doing the opposite of wasting Buprenorphine. You're using it with greater economy and effectiveness by insufflating it. Aside from this difference in potency, I've never thought the difference between insufflation and sublingual to be that noticeable.

You guys know me by now, so you know I'm about to talk about rectal administration. Out of all of the ROA's we've discussed in this thread, rectal administration is the only one that I've ever felt a noticeable difference from outside of injection, which is not at all recommended. If you're looking for a new ROA, rectal administration is easy, safe and might give you the extra kick you're looking for.

Buprenorphine has a very long half life, well over 24hr on average so if you are dosing 2mg multiple times a day you are basically just topping up each time and eventually there is a ceiling, for me the ceiling was 6mg.

Anything above 6mg for me made no difference at all, and for me sublingual kicked in virtually straight away, definitely within 20min, probably took an hour or so to reach peak but sublingual onset was very fast.
