Hi all,
Last night I tried to shoot some C in my foot, but blood didn't draw back so I pulled out the needle and stopped. Today it is very swollen and somewhat painful. It is not red and no pus appears. I read about abcesses but don't see how I could have one since none of the C actually went it. Could I have pricked the muscle or just irritated it? I put a compress on it and really don't want to go the hospital.

Did you clean your foot well? Are you using sterile equipment? The foot is a bad place to use, brother (at least in my experience).

Thanks for your reply. Foolishly I did not clean my foot very well. The equipment was brand new, out of the package. I know it is a bad place to use.. Never again. Should I seek medical attention for this? I don't see how it could be more than just irritated since nothing went in, but it's freaking me out.

This is probably the problem, it is likely from not having sterilized your foot, you could have introduced some bacteria to the subcutaneous area. It is possible you might have an abscess.

Do you have the means to go to the hospital?

Oh god. Can I wait til tomorrow to see if the swelling goes down, or should I go ASAP? I do have means to get to a hospital but really don't want to. As I said it is not red or noticeably pus filled. It does not appear to be anything but swollen. I know this is a dumb thing to say, but I have rarely sterilized sites before injection (foot and other places) and have never problems before.. I guess it only takes one time though, hm? Is putting a compress on it worth it or should I just go to the ER?
