(I already did a BL search for supply sources but came up dry. Apologies if this has been covered.)

I'm doing jamy's ketamine regimen soon. I've procedured the actual ketamine and it's pure, and I've decided to go the IM injection route.

I'll need to dissolve the ketamine into sterile water myself. I'm told that sterile water is better than saline for this process but please correct me if I'm wrong.

What I need:
- a needle micron filter (just to be sure)
- 1cc syringes
- sterile water
- 20mL vials with removal butyl rubber stoppers (so I can put the powder in there and then inject sterile water into it)

My doctor will not give me an RX for any of the supplies I need, so I am left looking online or elsewhere for legal sources.

I live on the Canadian west coast but I can probably receive shipments from the U.S. as well. Most of the sites I'm finding online are based out of China which gives me the creeps. Other sites don't sell syringes, or they sell vials but they have the metal steal on them which can't be removed (i.e. they are for liquid transfer only).

I'm realizing now that I really need some mentorship here... much thanks. :)

I don't really know how Canada is with this sort of thing, but do they have needle exchances? You could get everything you need there.

Hey foreigner I'm from the UK but I had a look and found a couple of canadian sources so I've sent you a PM :)

My only remaining question is the length of the needle. The BL injection FAQ do not address this. Nursing sites I've visited have said that for adults over 130lbs, a needle length of 1-1.5" (inches) is necessary to get deep enough into the muscle to avoid liquid seeping out.

Most of the 1cc 25G needles I'm finding have 1/2" needles maximum. Am I just being nitpicky or does this really matter? I'm a skinny guy but I still want to do this right.

Well you don't need to go that big of a gauge, a ketamine solution will run fine with a smaller rig. You should be able to find 1cc 28G in 1". Even being skinny, i'm not sure 1/2" is going to be enough. I could be wrong, though. I was scary thin back when i was using IV drugs often, and 1/2" still wasn't long enough.

1/2" definitely doesn't sound like enough, 1" is more like it...try to find a slighter higher needle gauge, as Crashing said. You should be able to find that somewhere.

I'm not sure where you are but needle exchanges and pharmacies in Vancouver and Victoria have 1CC syringes with 1" needles. I don't know if any have luer lock syringes though. Micron filters need to be ordered online TMK. Vials can be found online if you Google "sterile vials" or something.

I'll have to check the current guideline on posting links for HR supplies, I think it's under revision.

depending on where youre injecting you could get away with a 1/2 inch pin. pecs come to mind. and as was stated above I thought there were exchanges in Canada at least in some provinces. also will a pharmacy not dispense the pins and vials/amps to you?

^ No they are uptight in Canada about that. You can't find very much OTC, aside from maybe sterile water.

I found 30G 1" online but I'm worried that it's too small for the solution to move through. The other option is 27 x 1"

Upon reflection I do think a smaller gauge is better because the K regimen calls for injection every 6 hours or so, and I don't want to have bruises all over the place!

Are you not wanting to say what city/town you live in? (if so, that's fine or you could be vague or PM me). I find it extremely easy to get syringes in BC. It is perfectly legal to get them from a pharmacy and most pharmacies will sell them to you no questions asked. Some pharmacies say it's their company policy not to sell them without a prescription on file, but I would certainly not say Canada is uptight about selling syringes. Also there are a good number of needle exchanges in BC.

I am going to assume it's ok to direct people to legal needle exchanges but if a smod thinks that is a problem please let me know.

In Victoria there is a mobile syringe and HR supply delivery service: VARCS Mobile X Outreach Van

In the Vancouver area there are almost 20 locations that provide needle exchange services (you don't actually have any to give them in order to receive some): Vancouver Coastal Health Needle Exchange services

A pharmacy might have a better selection but needle exchanges are free and easy and you don't have to worry about getting judged. Both a needle exchange and a pharmacy should have sterile water. I doubt they would have vials, you would have to purchase those online but you can find them through a Google search like I mentioned.

If you're storing the solution you will want bacteriostatic water or else some benzyl alcohol to add to your water to make it bacteriostatic. With a micron filter I think you would need luer-lock syringes and I don't think the needle exchanges would carry those, only fixed-needle insulin syringes, but you could always ask them where to obtain the supplies you need.

I called every pharmacy around here and they are all Rx only. I think it's because of the level of IV drug addicts in this city, but unfortunately it makes life harder for the rest of us.

I've found online suppliers but no one seems to have 1cc luerlock syringes that I could cap with a 27-29G rig. They're all insulin or tuberculin syringes with fixes needles. If I could order 3cc syringes it would solve the problem, I'm just concerned that it would be more difficult to finely dose ketamine with something bigger. I guess I don't have much choice at this point.

Swimmingdancer, you're right about the incompatibility of 1cc syringes and with micron filters. I plan to bypass this problem by using a bigger luerlock syringe for the preparation process, and use bacteriostatic water in a 20mL vial for repeat injections with a smaller syringe.

Thanks everyone so far for your advice, it means a lot to me.

^Maybe they might just say that over the phone. I haven't had any problems. I just march in looking not like a junkie and confidently ask for specifically what I want. Anyway, if pharmacies are really a problem needle exchanges are free and easy.

I'll also try to find out the current policy on posting links for HR supplies...

humalin-r is a type of insulin available without prescription. do with that as you will. also if your exchange offers naloxone like mine does they give luer lock syringes with them. also I've heard that you can use a short tip (1/2 inch or less) for microns (maybe its a certain brand) or break a needle tip off. you just slide it over the nub the needle is attached to. I never realized how fortunate I was to have the exchange i do. for amps I just emptied a naloxone amp, rinsed it with water, and filled with solution.

Is humalin-r still currently available without an rx? This would be an easy in at the pharmacy as far as aquiring medical supplies without hassle.

Also what other options are available to micron filter solutions without having to us a luer-lock syringe ? ?
