I got this bump and scarring on a injection site i have been using very frequently. I'm getting worried because of the amount of times I've injected into it. There feels to be a oval shaped ball or hard feeling lump beneath the skin the size of a big Lima bean. I inject heroin often and inject dialudid many times a day(up to 40 shots in one day...about 60 mg more or less. crazy i know..) Should I seek medical attention for this? I don't have insurance and would not like to have it on my hospital record that I am a drug addict. Would appreciate any advice. Thanks Blue-Lighters

looks like a scar from getting attacked by a knife.. but since i know that is NOT what it is... i would say, that's not too healthy looking mm'kay. DEFFINATELY get it seen by a medical professional ASAP.
Good luck.

It's definitely an infection. Hope it is not staph. Staph is a bitch to treat.

I am not a doctor nor do I play one one TV. Go see a dermatologist. There is nothing like a specialist to treat problems like this.

good luck. :)

that looks worse than what i have and i bleed from my injection scars but i would never get mine checked out from a doctor but some drug abuse clinics have nurses that may be able to help you

Keep us updated.

And if you did not get the hint, an infection left untreated can circulate through the blood system and can be life threatening. See a doctor.

This is definitely an infection and you will have to get medical assistance. The swelling, inflammation, discoloration, and heat should all signal to you that it is infected.

At the very least, go to the ER/doctor.

You can update us in the IV/Injection Complications Mega Thread/FAQ. This thread can be found in the OD Directory.

^Yup.

It looks like the start of something bad.

Stop hitting that spot/vein. Keep an eye on it and if it's still inflamed in day or two, or if it gets worse, go to the ER.
