Inadequate
sometimes I feel like
I can't ever measure up
to the line that you've set.
The world is placing bets
to whether I fail or succeed.
And it feels like I'm losing...
I'll never be as smart as you
but I can always wash our laundry.
I'll never be as tough as you
but I can always hold you while you cry.
I'll never be as quick as you
but I can remember you don't like onions.
I'll probably never make as much as you will
money wise I mean.
I'll keep our house so pretty and clean
and take care of our future children.
If I win that is and I feel like I'm losing
a battle that has already been lost.
I'll never be able to drive a manual like you
but I can cook you a great dinner.
I don't think you want me to feel this way
I know you don't understand much of emotions.
But in truth I feel inadequate to you.
this is a very rough draft. normally my poems I tend to revise religiously till I'm satisfied with their flow and rhythm. This is is the very first draft, no editing at all and I think is more powerful because of it.
