In heroin withdrawal, could use some words of encouragement...

So I took like 24mg of Loperamide a couple hours ago and I'm actually starting to feel somewhat better. Awesome...

Glad you are feeling better.A few days of Suboxone never made me sick.I will say that when I kicked decades ago,I was sick for 4 days, then felt better but didn't sleep well for a month.6 or 7 years ago when I kicked,it took me a few weeks to feel OK.I assume it is the dope being cut with Fentanyl, the dope didn't even feel the same. The high was completely different, not as good as it used to be.That did make it a bit easier to stop (the dope being bad).

So.. I fucked up again. I'm using this week long vacation as an opportunity to get clean... I took some suboxone with me. Only 1.5 pills.. I used 6 mgs the first day and 6mg the second day, although I didn't notice much relief in symptoms... I had been using a lot... sometimes up to $200 worth/day.

Anyway... this is the beginning of my 5th day, and I leave for home in two days. Then, the real struggle will be not picking up again... which hasn't worked out too great in the past. I'm trying to stay hopeful though. Can someone please tell me when this will ease up a bit? My 5th day off dope and my 3rd day off subs... last night was really bad. I didn't sleep a wink (which is weird, cuz before last night I actually did get an hour or two here or there). I thought maybe I had an allergic reaction to either some food I ate (fish) or some pills I took (1 Tylenol, 1 Multi-vitamin), 4 Benadryl, 1 Melatonin). Anyway, I had a lot of anxiety and all my limbs were very restless.. I was laying awake the whole time tossing and turning while cracking my joints and twisting my elbows, wrists, and ankles.... I was KICKING hard... I had considered maybe going to the ER but I just kept telling myself, "this too shall pass". I figured if I did have some sort of allergic reaction... it would eventually just go away. The strange thing is: I took the same types of pills the night before and had no ill effects... actually my 3rd night here I slept great. Now that I think about it.. maybe it had something to do with the Tramadol I was taking.. I was taking up to 8 50mg Tramadols/day but stopped yesterday...

Anyway, if someone who's been in my situation before could please offer some encouraging advice, I would appreciate it. Thank you.

wasted suboxone...use like 0.5 mg a day

Hang in there!

You're getting close to the turning point. Don't give up right before it gets better. Glad you took the Lope- it helps! Ignore the nay-sayers, stay the course, and you'll make it.

Keep posting, keep taking your vitamins and lope, and keep repeating "This too shall pass". And it shall.

Peace.

P.S. Good advice above ^ Don't paint your apartment!

I am taking clonipine for my detox and it really seems to help. Maybe something similar will ease the pain? You are not alone bro and you can make it. Just making the decision to get clean is one of the hardest things to do. Good luck and remember there are many people by your side throughout this

I just want to say Good Luck. You have made it this far and can succeed this time. When you get home and get the urge to use try to remember what you went through on vacation. Also try to look forward to your next vacation clean, not sick and enjoying it. You should be really proud of yourself for making the choice to get clean and making it this far!

Just gotta tough it out one day at a time....

and hopefully going through the motions this time 'round will be enough motivation to never have to go through this process ever again.... fingers crossed!! :)

Great to hear it. :)

Yeah, I totally forgot about the Loperamide..... that's good stuff. Also, gather yourself as much of the following herbal arsenal as possible, they'll help you relax:

-Chamomile Tea
-Valerian Root
-Melatonin (Liquid sublingual is the only kind that works for me, but it works AMAZINGLY)
-Teatree Oil

Stay away from Kava Kava; it works, but there's recent evidence it's very bad for your liver.

And another thing, fresh air and sunshine are very therapeutic, but you should be getting plenty of those with all the exercise you're doing, right ;)

It's great that you can sleep at all. Even if you aren't actually asleep, you'll get lots of the benefits of sleep by simply lying in bed in the dark with your eyes closed. Focus on your breathing. If you have a machine that makes White Noise/Rain/Wave sounds, that may help, too.

Some mellow music is good, too. I recommend Brian Eno's Ambient I: Music for Airports.

Not being able to sleep was always the worst part of the kick, for me. :(

Glad you're doing better! Keep us updated. :) <3

Well.. it's not "sleep" in the typical sense.. it's more of that middle of the night alarm clock-staring opiate withdrawal-induced twilight subconsciousness.

Today... all I took during the day was a bunch of loperamide.. and I feel about 90%. No complaints at all... a little soreness but not enough to even bother me. I'm about to take my multi-vitamin and a melatonin... hopefully I can sleep some before my early flight tomorrow. Thanks everyone.. I'm feeling like a new person already... now the question is how do I feel when the loperamide is out of the equation.

Don't laugh, but advil will do wonders for the aches and pains, it can help with the wd fever/chills. I'd been popping pain pills for 8+ yrs and I'm still amazed how an otc helped me out

I was able to get off the oxy by taking 5HTP for a mood lift and B12 for energy. I also used aminos, DLPA, and L-tyrosine , I don't know how effective they really were but i can say they provided a better alternative for the need to "take" something throughout the day. You'll be fine once your done taking lope. Just take a few days to completely stop it so you don't shock you GI and open up a can of whoop ass on yourself. I went to gnc and got some vits, a powdered energy drink that except for some coffee like jitters, really helped with the post detox malaise. I hope you are able to stay clean after this bought, it seems after enough times we all run out of detoxes that we can or are willing to go through.

Try at least to keep your eyes closed. I know it's not exactly sleep, but it's sort of a limbo, and does provide at least some of the mental and emotional rest you need.

You'll find that out when it is out of the equation. I recommend sharply tapering, or just flat-out stopping the Lope NOW. I believe Loperamide is at least a partial opiate agonist; it doesn't get you high simply because it can't cross the BBB (Blood-Brain Barrier) very efficiently.

OTC analgesics are Very helpful for the physical pain of withdrawal. Naproxen sodium (Aleve) is the best, IME, but 600-800 mg of Ibuprofen work well, too.

Keep on truckin'! and remember how horrible you felt the next time you have the urge or opportunity to fix. ;)

That's something i have noticed about Opiate withdrawal, is when you get 3 or 4 days into it and you think the worst is over cause your starting to feel better but then when you try to sleep the 4th or 5th night you can't, and the RLS kicks in really bad and your mind starts racing..hot/cold, etc etc, it seems to last forever but it eventually goes away.

It took me a good 2 weeks (atleast 15 days) to finally start feeling better from a 90mg-120mg Oxycodone habit, but everyone is different.. so when it seems like nothing is going to change or get better always remember is just takes time, i know it seems like for fucking ever especially while your in withdrawal (min's feel like hours and hours feel like days) but it does go away.

Hahaha, great way to put it!

How's it going now then? Did you make it through? You'll be feeling better now if you stuck at it or not, I guess!

I also read that high doses of Loperamide can actually do wonders for withdrawal. Anyone have any experience with this? I'm thinking about going to the nearest pharmacy and eating a box.
Well for me, loperamide helps for the diarreah. By mistake I bought the multi
symptom pills which are huge and chalky. Feeling nausea, I nearly choked on
them. So the tiny green ones are much easier to swallow. My doctor once
prescribed me Lomotil for IBS and works so well for opiate withdrawal since
it does contain a small amount of opiate itself. Too bad it's so expensive!
Glad to hear that you're doing better.

I'm not coming off of H, but the Lope has helped me a lot. It doesn't completely kill the creepy-crawlies, but it does take the edge off. I'm only on day 3, and the Lope seems to help a lot!

Keep your head up! You'll be feeling better before you know it.
