How is this thread still open? Did I miss the memo? Were now openly helping people deceive physicians and hospitals? What the fuck?
No, my sarcastic friend, we weren't. I was openly offering a harmless fictitious attempt, a hypothetically victimless tactic to hopefully help a man who is in agonizing/possibly dangerous withdrawal. In my book, an attempt to spare someone terrible pain and possibly save a life qualifies as harm reduction.
Blues runners: Your comments are out of line. You give a bad name to many of us.
The name's 'blues runner', singular not plural. And how, pray tell, were my "comments" out of line? Please elaborate. And I "give a bad name to many of us"? Please explain that thoughtless statement. Many of us are addicts. Addiction is not a joke. It's dark, ugly and deadly. My suggestions translated to nothing more than an improvisational story that would have caused no one, I repeat no one, any harm. The only consequence of its hypothetical success would have been to get a sick man some badly needed medication in the effort to stop his struggle and pain. If that kind of a goal is something you consider "giving a bad name", you've got some serious critical thinking to do which I wonder if you're capable of.
OP: Sorry for your misfortune. Try and find a local doctor and get something prescribed (Most cases it will be ativan). You said you have insurance? Keep searching the database, I'm sure you can find a physician that doesn't require references. Get at the phones tomorrow morning ASAP and let it be known how dire your situation is. Good luck
Tomer
So, your post to a man in a medical emergency consists of feeling sorry for his misfortune and repeating what had already been suggested several times in the thread already. Very helpful, very effective. Then you tell him to "get at the phones tomorrow?" Sure. He's in withdrawal, in desperate pain, and the best you come up with is for him to wait at least another day to repeat the same very things that haven't worked for him after who knows how many tries?
You think you're about harm reduction? I was the first to answer a thread of yours whose OP consisted of nothing more than the question of whether or not two drugs you'd "found" and obviously knew nothing about would get you high. Through the good fortune of being well-informed on both of them, I told you the scientific truth.
Are you an addict Tomer? If so, how do you get your drugs? Ever been through life-threatening withdrawal? Are you a hard-working, perfectly honest, shining example of healthy humanity? Or maybe you're just a kid on a board looking for new ways to use drugs. Me? I'm an addict. I'm also a good person. I don't steal, fight, or ever voluntarily hurt anyone. If anything, I'm someone that's been through it and wants to spare others the same hell I've known too many times. I'd do the same for you.
Did any of that make sense to you, or do you feel it, "gave you a bad name"?
Note to mods and/or anyone else: This board is supposedly about harm reduction. If you doubt my devotion to that life-saving effort, read some of my posts. You might find it interesting that I not only consistently offer safety suggestions, but follow up any asked for advice on "how to get high on ____" with some truth about how addiction has ruined my life. On a board where more than half its members ask others how to get euphoric at the expense of destroying themselves, it's sometimes impossible for me to believe some (not all) of you are genuinely about harm reduction and not simply getting high, learning how to get new highs, regardless the likely harm that it will eventually cause the curious novice.
To those of you who know what addiction really is and want to help others, I sincerely thank and congratulate you. And to the others? The bandwagon hypocrites hiding behind a claim that's supposedly about care and concern? I won't answer that.
So, for the mods that do know the reality of addiction, the addictive mind, and the terrible tragedy it nearly always brings about...can you, in well-informed, experienced, honest good conscience delete what I've written here?
