I find that high doses of drugs and alcohol are taking insanely long times for my body to get rid of, my alcohol hangovers last for the entire day when they weren't nearly as bad before. Is there any way to improve this detox system in my body? A liver tonic perhaps? I've given my liver many weeks/months of rest but it doesn't seem to be doing anything. Perhaps I should start taking supplements such as N acetyl cysteine and the like?

50 mg of dexedrine will get me wired and unable to sleep (and feeling like death) for 2 days, but it seems like others are able to take that dose daily..

Hmmmm, are you on any other medications. The dextroamphetamine thing would make sense if u take an MAOI, the alcohol I'm not so sure about. Have u started drinking more recently (quantity and frequency wise)? In truth I'm not that knowlegeable when it comes to ethanol mechanisms but you could have some sort of enzyme issues going on, or some sort of liver issues (which is where most of the enzymes are doing most of the work anyway).

congrats it sounds like you kind of damaged your liver, please reframe from binge drinking if you intend to keep it.

nope no MAOIs, no medication

yes my liver probably is damaged, sigh college...

I don't think a sign of liver damage is a longer half life for alcohol. This seems like an unlikely explanation.

I think that it matters less if your liver is damaged than if you are going to take care of yourself now.
It sounds like your body's elimination systems may be taxed.
To counter this, exercise is a key.
I would also eat a simple diet for a while - maybe just fruit and veggies for a few weeks, to allow my body to spit out the backed-up poisons and catch up. I would consider fasting, and taking herbs to support my liver (milk thistle is commonly used in this way).

Good luck!
