Impaired speech & writing skills from using E?

I think I came across some posts on the topic a while ago but I couldn't find them again using the search option.

I was wondering if anyone else have experienced impaired speech process and difficulties in communicating in writing after the prolonged use of pills.

Lately I've noticed more times than not I have diffculties in constructing sentences during speech and often lose words during a sentence.

I also find it difficult to construct sentences and use correct grammar when I write (ie. this email, reports at work etc). My verbal/communication skills was never that superb but I don't think it was this bad before I started using pills.

It's getting to a point where I think it's affecting my performance at work so I'm seriously considering seeking treatment or lay off the pills for a while.

If anyone's got any advice or suggestions I would love to hear from you.

Thanks in advance.

hey there, dont worry too much. this has happened to many people, and is temporary (unless of corse if you totally abuse the drug).

ive laid off for 2 months and im 100% feeling normal again, no blanks, no confusion, no trouble constructing a sentence. i had the same worries as you, but id suggest you have a good couple of months break and you'll feel much better.

how often do you use E? maybe limit yourself to one night evey one or two months? its worked for me. also, for now, try taking ginko biloba, which helps memory and concerntration. wont hurt in helping you along the way.

DZ ;)

yeh i got dumb from pills too. i was not even a heavy user, i seem to get scat very quickly after i take a pill and my goldfish memory kicks in.

havinga break does seem to fix things back up a little, but i think ive lost a fair bit of cognitive ability:(
maybe its cause im getting older too and my brain is passing the growing and learning stage. whos knows

I go out on them 2-3 times a month and been doing so for about 18 months 8o

It seems to improve during the week but of course after the weekend I'll be back at square one.

Is there a scientific explanation for these temporary (i hope) symptoms?

I think Drugs have affected the way i speak, im very forgetful and often lose my train my thought in conversation & i feel i especially have a lot of trouble with short term memory, not really long term.

In my opinion i dont think it goes away, i havnt sopped using which has made it worse but my friend who stopped using a year ago still has difficulty with the same things i do

Captin Staunch- sounds like what you are getting is caused by a comedown. Think about it, if you are using basically every weekend, then probably for at least half of your week (probably more) you are suffering one of the symptoms of a comedown which is scatteredness. HAve a break, and see how things go from there. If it is really affecting your work maybe you might want to have a long break from pills as they are not worth losing your job over. If you smoke pot this is probably also not helping your ability to think clearly and explain what you are thinking (through speech or otherwise).
I know for me that if I do pills on a weekend then I can expect that I won't be able to do shit at uni for at least 3 days. Can't concentrate, can't write well, no motivation to pay attention. the list goes on.

From your post in the double dropping thread it sounds like you've probably been hitting it way to hard for a bit to long. A break is definately on the cards here but don't go ignoring a problem like this, if things don't get better definately seek professional advice. Drugs have definate effects on the memory and brain functions but you don't want to leave yourself permanently mentally retarded....

think about what the drugs do to you, being off your tree is awesome but think about what your brain must go through to generate those feelings

im not anti-drugs because im an occassional user (5-6 times a year) but the above statement is what has kept my use to a minimal level

I definitely agree with whoever said that this is temporary. From my experiences, pills have added another perspective to my life... one greater than I could've ever imagined. This has most certainly added to my writing skills. Never been a fan of speech though.... seems like in the modern world the "best speaker" consists of the most obnoxious, loudest person society can find. If anything I've made this realisation and become more quieter... no physiological speech problems though.

Definitely know the goldfish feeling and have discussed it with friends before. It sort of seems to be some sort of scenario where one becomes distracted from the topic by some numbed out feeling. I wouldn't actually say it's a bad thing.

- all the best

Other threads worth a read:

Ecstasy and Speech (Dark Side)
i cant seem to form sentences anymore... (ED) (with some suggested solutions)

With polydrug use it can often be difficult to nail down the exact cause of symptoms related to cognitive function. Regular use of marijuana or ketamine for example is just as likely to cause problems with speech and writing skills.

Probably a good idea to go easy in future if you want to keeping on write good =D

LOL hoptis! Me fail English? That's unpossible!

capt staunch: you could look into nootropics. They helped me regain huge chunks of my memory (details from about ten years ago) and also my vocabulary - although I am one of those weird people who subscribes to "word of the day emails". I think it's all about exercise - pardon the cliche, but 'use it or lose it'.

One thing that I've noticed particularly hammers my sentence construction and oral coherence is sleep deprivation, even without substance use. It might just be that your big weekends aren't giving you enough rest to perform to the standard you've set yourself. Or, it could be that you're not exercising your verbal dexterity in the environ of a nightclub. 90dB? Not really conducive.

In any case, your grammar isn't as bad as you seem to think: add in a couple of commas, change "lay" to "laying" and it's fine ;)

Unless it took you many drafts to write that post, you could be seeing it as more of an issue than it really is :)

edit: haha, I had to edit my own grammar and I know there are still errors in here :P
