Immigration discussion

It has been interesting seeing him evolve his perspective over the past couple of years. Unfortunately I can't stomach much of his talking a mile-a-minute ADHD style of presentation, I just don't have the patience to decompress it. Though in fairness I'm burnt out at this point, I just want the nonsense to be over tbh.
Fair enough! I love how he talks but I can’t understand that it’s not for everyone 😅

You mean you like the way he looks, as he talks ;)
I like Russell, but to be fair, he doesn't really have any original ideas. He parrots other people's ideas on his youtube channel.
I would like him a lot more if he toned down his shouty presentation and the need to be like Peterson trying to cram in lots of fancy words. We don't need the pretence anymore, the Alex Jones style, people are listening now.. so let's refine it to be more polished? I don't know.
Current "Democracy" is when the government ignores the majority of it's citizens

I can't believe England isn't on there. That has to be a mistake.

I suspect these NGO's are being run directly/indirectly by the intelligence agencies. We've had people handing out mobile phones here in the UK to people coming off the boats. There is just no way this would be happening without some kind of direct state involvement; these groups would be duly investigated and promptly shut down if our state apparatus actually saw this as a security threat (which it is).

Imagine what it takes these days for South Americans to actually get deported by the current government, and they're deporting this guy

if only congress would pass a bipartisan bill - supported by the nbpc - to address a multitude of issues at the border.

wait. never mind.

You know what ultimately made me burnt out from all this politicking? The fact that nobody actually reads what the politicians actually do or attempt to pass/kill; they only read media news headlines and then take that as fact or position or history or truth... when it's almost always an intentionally distorted version of those things.

"Politics" in this country is some weird blue-balled version where all they do is talk about threats or solutions, but probably only 1% or less of Americans actually read what their politician's actions are, what they draft or vote on. It's like playing fantasy football but nobody actually watches the game...

I truly believe Elon doesn't give two shits about politics. He just wants to maintain his tax cuts. Simple as that.

That's why he's giving away $1 million per day for votes, because even if he gave away $365 million over a year, that would still be exponentially cheaper than him being taxed at the same rate you and I are. That's the joke of it all man.

C'mon, we've been over this already. His weath is mostly in capital gains. He gets taxed AFTER he cashes out his capital gains when it then becomes taxable income. He paid a federal income tax rate of ~41% ($11B) in 2021 on $23.5B income due to selling some of his positions, and that's not even including his California tax rate on that income

In total, he spent $142.6 million to purchase shares worth $23.6 billion, giving him $23.5 billion in taxable income, taxable for 2021 at a federal rate of about 41%. Musk also sold a small fraction of the additional shares he already owned, sales that fetched a taxable $5.8 billion at a lower capital gains rate

How much did he pay last year? Or the year before that? That's just one year. He is still not taxed evenly like you and I are.

But it's not all about taxes, people like him use loans from banks to dodge taxes. They take out loans for everything they buy so they don't have to cash out capital gains. The loan interest is cheaper than taxes, and they have infinite credit. So they take out a 2nd loan to pay off the 1st loan, repeat into infinity. There are many ways the rich dodge paying taxes.

I wasn't even trying to quantify it, just saying he wants to avoid more taxes.

It's the same as using a house (asset) you own as leverage for a loan (instead of selling your house) in case you default on the loan. He put assets up (spaceX shares or whatever) as leverage for the loans he got and the banks were fine with it because they get the shares if he defaults

I don't really care enough about this to go on tho, and it's an immigration thread

The important point is, how can anyone trust anything that comes out of his mouth when he works hand in hand with the DoD? It's like going to Bill Gates for medical advice for fuck sake.

Another kid of rich establishment linked parents, parachuted into powerful public facing tech roles, designed to obfuscate the fact the DoD funds and controls all these big companies for its own power.

You're just parroting baseless propaganda, doing free work for Elon and a former reality television host who's trying to stay out of jail. Those people are what we in the detoxing from heroin community would refer to as 'Bugs' or 'Buzzards'. They're oxygen thieves of the highest order, so if you want to stick by them, don't say you were unaware.

Your time, effort, and outrage, should be focused on real issues rather than being a soundboard for people who could care less about you. They leave their own people to rot in prison while claiming to speak for them. They have the means and the influence to change the things they constantly stir moral panics about, yet this kind of stuff goes unaddressed and people just mindlessly post this rubbish.

Bring something more useful to the discourse, unless of course you enjoy being the pawn of Putin and Musk - in which case, do whatever you'd like because I'm not going to convince you otherwise.

Illegal immigration is a real issue. It's foolish to think it isn't. Also, lmao at bringing up Putin. I couldn't possibly actually care about illegal immigration, I must just be a pawn for Musk and Putin because you disagree

the question is here how covid *also* played into all of this trend?
i distrust statistics i haven't made myself
