Benzos Immediate Tolerance Have To Double Dose?

I've found something weird, my girl and I took 16mg of alprazolam yesterday and got completely smashed. Was great. Today we took the remaining 12mg and felt sweet fuck all.. Now, we had taken a decent break from benzos, around 3 weeks. As we binge, we've never gotten a habit. But we were taking big 30-40mg doses mostly once or twice a week before the break on and off for 6-12 months. Is this like muscle memory or something? :)
 
The rapid tolerance is associated with the loss of the allosteric benzo site ; the alpha1 and gamma1 subunits dissociate after hefty benzo tolerance/usage develops. This directly reduces the effectiveness of benzodiazepines.
