I have found many helpful answers on this site and find the people on here to generally be very polite, respectful, and helpful... so I finally decided to join, yay!

A little info about me and my personality: I'm a college student, currently trying to decide whether to switch my major to Political Science or Philosophy; my goal is to be an entertainment lawyer. My dream is to attend law school at either UCLA (top choice), Harvard, or Columbia. I am also a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps and am still very active within the military community and advocating veteran's rights. I'm a patriot- a very strong and opinionated one, lol. I've noticed that specific personality trait of mine sometimes doesn't tend to go over too well with certain people, although I really don't see what's so wrong with having a lot of pride in your country. Other than that, I am a very laid-back, friendly person... although I tend to be a bit high strung and slightly obsessive at times when it comes to organization and planning. But hey, we all have our faults. I'm really easy to get along with and accepting of all types of people from all walks of life. But at the same time, once someone gets on my bad side, well. Good luck getting off of it, because it probably won't happen! It's pretty hard to get on my bad side though- you gotta know what buttons to push. My passions are snowboarding, acting, and singing. I have also independently researched many types of drugs over the years, my specialties being opiates, THC, DXM, hallucinogens, methamphetamine, and certain herbal and alternative medicine remedies (such as St. Johns Wort and Melatonin). Drugs and the way they affect the human body and the experiences they produce have always been quite fascinating to me. I'm also pretty fascinated with philosophy and the supernatural; I could talk about any of the above for days on end lol.

Now, what brought me to Bluelight/my drug experiences. I didn't have the best childhood, and it somewhat let me to experiment with illicit drugs. Everything under the sun besides heroin and crack. This went on for a few years until I was sent to rehab, which was a HUGE blessing in disguise. Most people think of rehab as a horrible place; I think of it as one of the best experiences of my life. That month in rehab and the four months of boot camp training are the only times in my life i've been sober of EVERYTHING- alcohol, cigarettes, drugs, etc.- since I was 15. They are also the only times I can remember being completely happy, full of hope and energy. I would not trade my experience in rehab for the world. However, some bad things happened to me in the military, and it put me back down a bad path where I started drunking everyday and occasionally doing cocaine. The REAL trouble started when I got out, however. I became addicted to Vicodin and Norco (mostly the Norcs) after having my wisdom teeth removed then developing a dry socket. At the end of my addiction, I was taking around 150mg per day. When I realized I was addicted, I got scared and called my doctor, who put me on Suboxone.
I have now been on Suboxone for about a year, and am nearing the end of my treatment. This is mostly what brought me to Bluelight- trying to find information and personal experiences of people who have successfully weaned off of Suboxone and what it was like, etc.

So, that's my story and that's why I'm here! I'm excited to be a part of the little Bluelight community lol as cheesy as it sounds... and I look forward to chatting with you all, sharing my experiences, hearing about yours, and of course gaining new insights and information.

Thanks :) I hope your Sub treatment is going well; are you still on it?
By the way, congrats on getting help for yourself; it's definitely hard to swallow your pride and do so. Especially since opiates seem to have that whole "opiate nostalgia" thing going for them, unlike other drugs. I hated having to swallow my pride and admit to my doctor that I was addicted to opiates, but I'm glad I did. Good luck in your recovery! I'll definitely go check out the other Suboxone threads.

I am still on it, yes. I was in severe pain for the first few months of this year, and other than a brief while during surgery, was on Suboxone only the entire time.

I am planning on being able to quit soon, I hope I will be able to. I don't want to have to keep using it my whole life - but even if I had to, I'd be OK with it. :)

Very nice intro....you'll find quite a few of us Vets on here...im a prior Air Force nerd....Getting out was wayyy tougher than i imagined....but glad to hear you're on the upswing....GL and Welcome =)

CaptainHeroin; When you quit the Sub for surgery, did the pain meds they gave you work for you? They didn't work for me at all; I don't know if that's normal or not. Good luck quitting; it's tough, but it is easier than getting off of a full agonist I suppose. :) And yeah, I'd definitely rather stay on Sub for the rest of my life than get addicted to anything else again!

Hypnotik; Ahh it's nice to meet a fellow vet! I agree with you there haha getting out is no walk in the mark... it's tough to go back to the first civ div with a military mindset. Plus, it's a huge lifestyle change.

Welcome Trish!

Very interesting and well-written introduction, I can tell you put some thought into it :)
I'd be interested in talking with you sometime about your experience in the USMC (if you're ok with that, of couse) as I've always been very curious/interested in pursuing something along those lines.

Glad to have you on board %)

Of course... I'd be happy to talk to you about the Marines / answer any questions you have. :) I strongly suggest it; overall it really is a great experience!

Great! I'm about to head off to a job interview (wish me luck), but I'll shoot you over a PM when I get back :)

Good luck :)

Also, I'm still just a Greenlighter so while I think I can read whatever PM you send, I can't respond back until I get Bluelighter status. :! So it might take me a day or two!
