I'm out of my kpins can I take Ativan?

I've been on kpins for two years daily 2 mgs a day. For anxiety disorder and deppression.
I ran out of my clonazepam early and I have 9 days til my refill and I don't wanna have a seizure from withdrawl that scares me.
But I have 10 1mg ativans lorazepams. And two 2mg Valium.

Can I take the lorazepam until I get my refill of clonazepam ?? I heard lorazepam is very weak compared to kpins. What should I do? Any advice?

Please help I know it's dangerous to stop taking benzos suddenly. And how many lorazepams should I take if I took 2mgs of clonazepam everyday for two years.

i looked it up and 2mg of clonazepam = 4mg of lorazepam

the half life is probably shorter so there might be some rebound anxiety because clonazepam stays in your system longer

i would do first day 1.5mg, second day 1.25mg, third day 1.25mg, fourth-ninth day 1mg. valium in the afternoon of day 3 and 4.

2 years is a long time to be on a benzo though, it could be a real shock to your system when the lorazepams half life finishes (approx 15 hrs), if you are smart about using the resources you have i don't think you will be in too much trouble

its probably better to see your doctor and see what you can do about getting another refill closer to the date, but i guess if you ran out you were taking above the recommended dose? not sure what you can do about that but someone else will probably have better expertise.
 
Both the ativan and valium will keep you from entering withdrawal as they are all cross tolerant. Unfortunately I'm not sure you're going to be able to have a pleasant 9 days as you don't have much to work with. Only advice one can give is to make those few ativans last as long as you can and if you run out either try and get an early refill or admit yourself into a hospital if that fails. Ihate to be the bringer of bad news but benzo withdrawal is no joke.

To answer your question you would need to take 4mgs of ativan each day to match your klonopin dose but if you actually take that much you'll eat through your stash in a matter of days. You also have to keep in mind that ativan has a short half-life so even if you were to take that 4mgs, come night time you would probably be in withdrawal again. If you're gonna try and power through this at home expect the coming days to be pretty unpleasant.
 
I'm not sure anybody can guarantee you won't have a seizure trying to get by on ~1mg of ativan per day, that's only 25% of your normal dose. Would your doctor allow you to refill your script a few days early?

Any chance you have something like carbamazapine around? Rehabs around here usually give that out to people detoxing from benzos or alcohol to prevent seizures.
 
I just remembered I get a refill of my Xanax in two days.
I'm on kpins daily for anxiety and I get Xanax for panic attacks.
But right now my doctors office is closed until Monday but I'm out of refills so I gotta also wait for my doctor to ok the refill which could happen on Monday or Tuesday. . So on Monday I should hopefully get my Xanax and I guess use those until I get my kpin refill.

I got the ativans and Valium from a friend. But ya sucks how weak Ativan is I didn't know they were that weak.

Do u guys think taking these ativans for couple days til I get my Xanax will keep me from having a seizure cuz if withdrawl?

And I kno it's my fault this will never happen again. I think I just gave some kpins to a good friend who was deppressd having suicidal thoughts and I was tryin to help. But I need to just remind myself that I need my Meds
 
Good to hear man :). You should be good, I would try and split your daily dose into two parts though that way your not in withdrawal all night after your morning dose wears off. You can try something like 2.5mgs of ativan twice a day and maybe one valium each morning or night, whichever you choose. Try not and get into these types of situations anymore though, they went to a good cause but you need that klonopin to keep you functional.
 
Either one will do, a benzo is a benzo. If you do find some know that xanax and klonopin are equipotent so 2mgs should be all you need to replace your klonopin. Xanax is still a short acting benzo though so a couple doses per day might still be needed.
