props to everyone involved. props to Mu for playing a killer set. props to Nigel for droping "303" on that system. Porps to doormouse for breaking my damn neck. A big fuck you to anyone who littered. props to all who helped w/ the cleanup. Thanks to Terry Mullan for letting me down. I looked up to you and looked forward to seeing you for a long time: what happened? I guess we'll have to pick up the ball where you dropped it G.
finally props to the magic lantern travelling light show for keeping it real!

No he showed but he was not on point at all. I almost want to say that he looked really fucked up on something. And Grooverider was there-he just switched timeslots with Dieselboy.

This was without a doubt one of the best events I have ever gone to. I can't say enough good things about this party. Totally worth the 8 hour drive. The area was beautiful, the people were nice, and when night fell and the lights came on the entire face of the cave wall and ceiling was covered in visuals. I wasn't even on anything and felt like I was tripping. Plus there were seven stages and the main stage had so many speakers it looked like a fucking fortress.

Sorry to hear about what happened to Dancesafe. That is some bullshit. And yeah the guys on carts were idiots, but this was extremely well done and organized on all levels. I heard DJ Nitro from St. Louis for the first time and he completely fucked my world right up. Best disco house set I've heard in three or four years hands down. You seriously missed out if you weren't at this party. I'm not kidding.

I LOVED it... can't believe that I was considering not going to prepare for my wedding.
The venue rocked... except for the toilet situation, the golf cart idiots, and that stupid hill (what a workout!).
My favorite acts of the night... CHRISTOPHER LAWRENCE was Fantastic, even better than the other time I saw him, simply amazing professional first-class DJ all the way..... SETH AND MACK got me started off proper with the best set that I have heard them play together in a while, with a little more exposure these two could be big.... DJ NITRO!!! I loved his set :), danced my booty off....... DIEGO RO-K was great too!, perfect after-christopher lawrence pick.... Nigel Richards tore it up and kept me grooving through the morning into Trevor Lamont.
I was the one in the purple sports bra with khaki cargo capris on.... had leis on at some points in the night and was making bubbles at 9:30 in the morning as I danced to Trevor... if you talked to me, lemme kno!
This was a great party folks.... security was lax, but I also didn't see many young kids around, so hopefully we were all old enough to be responsible, or at least somewhat responsible.
Thanks Johnny Mack for driving! Thanks Seth, Molly, and John for observing (making fun of) Misty and I as we danced for the longest time ever....
I wanna play at the Cavewoman party, as do other female members of the In-D Tribe... who do I send my demo to?

man.. what a fun time. we met lots of kids from all over.. a ton from st. louis..

nothing against the town or it's party-going population.. but several of the groups of kids i met from there made St. Louis kids look bad.. real bad.

not to mention the fact that they apparently have never learned the definition of "on the downlow." a few groups around our area were so fucking blatant i wanted to scream.
in short - they would stand well to take a few lessons in how to handle themselves in a large social situation. i would've said something to security.. but the problem areas were frequented often by countless enterprising staff members, and what kind of impression does it send to state "no drugs" then 1 hr after opening, posting signs around the space stating "if you find these laminates, turn them into a staff member and they will give you 3 pills." (my winner for "fucking moron of the weekend")

last i checked.. ecstasy is a drug.
the flyer said no drugs.
but t-shirt-wearing staff members were openly and frequently dealing it and promoting it's use.

my saturday morning was slightly less enjoyable than the rest of the weekend due to being shaken from being about 10 seconds from falling asleep.. only to have some ASSHOLE apparently run right next to our tent and toss what I was later told was a QUARTER STICK OF DYNAMITE INTO THE WOODS.

a)whoever did this: fuck you. i'm human, i didn't come to shove meth up my nose and munch pills for 3 days therfore.. i need sleep. you ruined that.

b)after getting up and getting my senses back from getting the crap scared out of me.. i immeadetly went to locate any nearby, responsible, sober-appearing staff member. i found 2 riding by moments later on a cart. i explained what had happened to them, they had actually heard the explosion and came to check it out. after explaining things to them and having the person described to them and given his location by someone who witnessed it.. they went and talked to the guy, who was also apparently a staff member for a moment.. then left. they came back 20-30 minutes later and i asked if anything had happened as a result and the staff member said to me "no. it's really kind of funny." shot me a dirty look, and left. i gave up on staff after that.

if you put "no drugs" on a flyer and expect people to respect it by remaining sober or at the least being responsible and somewhat discreet, perhaps choosing staff members who took time sunday morning to exclaim things like "fuck that. i'm staff, bitch. we brought all the fucking drugs up in this so these kids could have a good time." would be something you may want to leave off your checklist for next year. i realize there was tons of staff and it's impossible to keep an eye on or even personally know each one of them.. but the majority of the blatantly rude treatment of guests and shameless out-in-the-open drug dealing i saw this weekend was done by people wearing staff shirts. attitudes like that are turning away older heads like myself (this was my first event in about a yr and a half after spending 7 yrs supporting and throwing events). just because you have your "i'm fucking cool pass" around your neck.. you don't have free reign to act like an idiot and put yourself and every single person at the show at risk.
perhaps in my younger days i would've put forth the effort to chat with these folks and put a few pocket pharmacies out of business for the evening.. but alas on a sliding scale, my level of 'give a fuck' tends to hover around the low end these days, and i no longer have neither the time, energy, or concern for 'the scene' (nobody else obviously cares) to toy with twacked out thug ravers.

perfection with these sort of things is damn near impossible to attain and aside from the minor annoyances, we had one hell of a weekend, and one hell of a great time.

shout out to the dumpster peoples

man that was a good time. i had totally forgotten that i was a raver until this past weekend. see you all at wonka 3 i guess.

to all of the people camped near the dumpster ... you guys rock! what a great little neighborhood that was. its so nice to see that some people still like to act plurry.

as for the rampant stupidity with drugs... i think its best to remember that half the people selling them are *ON* them too, so how can you ever expect them to keep it on the DL?

at least K seems to be dead.

wow. who's the brain-trust that decided that that was a good idea? lol.

The Good and The Bad

When I bought my tickets to this party, I asked if there was anything on the flyer stating that pets were not allowed. I was told that it didn't say anything of the sort. However, when we got there we were told that the owners didn't want any pets in the area and that we "should have read the flyer." We went back to my car, grabbed a copy of the flyer, and still couldn't find anywhere on it that said no pets. Anyhow, while most of the staff members working the table didn't seem to give a shit that we drove 5.5 hours to get there and just told us that we could get a refund for our tickets and go back home, there was one guy who worked out a deal so we could camp in the parking area near the gate. THANK YOU SO MUCH if you happen to be reading this. He also threw us some free CDs for our trouble. We spent Saturday hanging out in the lot with the dog until the sun went down and it was okay to put her to bed in the car. Once we finally got into the event, I saw many amazing performances.

The people driving the golf carts dangerously fast on crowded hills was irresponsible and stupid. Also, after I'd spent my last $2 on water and we had already drank all that we brought with us (which we couldn't have gotten to anyhow, because we were camped outside the gate and it was after midnight), I went up to the concessions booth and explained that I didn't have any more money, but hoped they'd be nice enough to refill my bottle out of the tap. The response I received from the lady there (Lou?) was, "They won't let us." I don't know who "they" are, but I don't much care for them. I asked if there was anywhere I could refill my bottle and she said, "No." My other minor complaint was that some of the kids I randomly introduced myself to, waved at, or said, "Hello," to acted very stand-offish like I had no right to approach them. When I'm at a party I like to make new friends. Why do other partykids find this odd?

So, to sum things up:

Good:
DJs
sound (except seeing speakers bundled together with caution tape)
lighting
AWESOME venue
availability of map and lineup
all the kids bringing a positive vibe to the party
the guy who saved us from driving back to Indy as soon as we got there
free music from one of the dnb DJs (High Speed Chase?) there
support from ALL OVER the midwest there.

Bad:
golf carts trying to run people down
no mention of "no pets" on the flyer
shady kids with bad attitudes
advertising as a party IN A CAVE. (though I'm sure if it actually had been there probably would've been a lot more injuries)

Overall, I'm sure this event required a lot of money and effort to put on, so thanks to everyone who helped make it happen.

Peas and Beets,
Sea Monkey

wendisoul-Ah that was you with the bubbles Sunday morning!

I was happy to see them, perfect timing! I was the kid in the trashed khaki phat pants on the rock in front of that light table!

I loved this party, almost all the acts I saw were incredible, and most of the people I met were sooper nice.

The venue was easily the best I've ever been too, except for 'fuck that hill' (the big one down to the main stage.) I would complain that water should be freely available. On Friday night it was 50 cents for a little one or 1 dollar for the big one, but then on Saturday it went to 2 for the 1 dollar ones. Ick.

I hated the staff on carts, idiots all of them. I also hated that little khandi girl selling 'molly' (which from what I saw of people taking them wasn't anything like MDxx) which caused one kid to freak out and make me have to miss the meetup to deal with his stupid ass (and I didn't even know this kid.) Stupid khandi bitch, hope she gets hers.

Besides those negatives (and the heat, augh!) I had a superdy duper time. Lawrence rocked my sox, Diesolboy was incredible, and so was Doormouse. The stage down the hill from the main stage (stage 5) and then up that rise (blue tent) had some incredible Acid House and hardcore going on, but weren't getting the appreciation the deserved.

All in all great times with great kidz.

Oh yeah, and Lady Foursquare was just INCREDIBLE!

man i had a good time... wish it would've lasted longer... but i guess I just carry this experience with me into the everyday and express that awesome vibe to all I meet :)
MattPD... glad I could make you smile with the bubbles

I am blown away... This entire experience completely shocked me down to the very core.

Although parking and setting up camp was quite the frustration, everything was golden after that. I met so many awesome people, and the DJs whose sets I went to were wicked... I wanted to (and did) frequently scream, to so much of a point that I don't have a voice. xD Join the club, right? :P

Anyway, yeah. I'm looking through the forums and such, but if anyone has pics, would you mind posting links to them? or PMing me with them? :-D

I had an awesome time :)

Great venue to say the least. I'm a lover of nature so what better venue to have my favorite thing (electronic music) presented in?
Beautiful scenery everywhere you looked...and the weather was awesome the whole time, including a nice cool off on Saturday night/Sunday morning.

Thanks to the all of those affiliated with the production of this event...and thanks to Caveman Bob for making such a stride to purchase that land and allow promoters to hold events there.
There was an awesome mix of folks there from a wide range of ages and types...always good to see diversity blending.

I'd have to say the highlight of all the sets I heard was Christopher Lawrence. And this comes not becuase he was the headliner, or any of the hype crap. It is because he totally laid it down proper. It was just right for the time, mood, atmosphere, and everything combined....as the sun crept up towards the tail end of his set. He played solid driving tech-trance sounds all the way through...but he never got to big or to spacy, it was just solid the whole way through with hints of peaks here and there, and it was those moments that kept luring the crowd along nicely. I was going nuts :)
Aside from him...I liked Nigel Richards for the most part. A bit sloppy at times, but all in all it was a solid techno warmup for the big Woody McBride set that took hold afterwards.

Tim Fusion.....great promotions, but.
I'll try to be as nice as I can saying this...if that's possible.
I have to heavily disagree with you playing before a headliner (Nigel Richards). There was a large crowd growing in front of the main stage only to hear amateur hour. From the sounds of it, I'd guess you've only been mixing for maybe 4-6 months. Granted you had some issues with records skipping (which non other DJs the rest of the night had) from time to time, every mix you did was choppy, and some were down right wrecks. I'm just kinda baffled as to how this lineup worked out in such a fasion, but seeing as you were one of the promoters, maybe I can figure it out.
If you want to showcase yourself, first practice more, and second, play early, when all the other hard working young DJs do. it's only fair.
:)
Aside from that...thanks for having us out to play. I really enjoyed playing, and I think a few others might have enjoyed our sound as well. thank you.
And if anyone's interested...I'll have a link to the set we played up soon.

I have to agree with the above comments about the cart people as well. Some were a bit out of control and power-tripping with their handing of the carts while around patrons.

hope to see this event pop up next year...we will definatley be down for another road trip.

Oh Yeah

Brotha, I got the REAL molly and it kicked my KY ass after the 3 shroom bars I ate. And man Let me tell you I thought it was fake as shit. So my boy got it for me and I was a skeptic til it hit me and I thought that everything was the most important thing in the world. Woo Hoo
EVILIL representin KY 2 THE FULLEST and the bartender from BW3's. I'll be there my nigga, and you are only my second true nigga. Fureal.

Also,,
They were crazy wit da carts,
but they earned it cuz they had connections. SOOOO
Much luv to the GTA style golf cart niggas.

AND THE CHICK from STL with the green pants, the dual wife-beaters and white kangol hat. SHe had madddddddd intimidation skillzz on tha danceflorre. And she was fine as hell with that blonde hair.
This is a proposal!!!!!
Will you marry me?
I was the only guy with all SHADY GEAR on and a red bandanna around my face.

See ya next year.
I'll bring the ring, Is like 3 karats OK???????????????????????

marea's set was one of the best i heard all night. christopher lawrence was perfectly timed and beautiful. he communicated with the crowd really well.
diego was a let-down, terry was a let-down, trevor was not. Diselnutz was boring, grooverider was late, woody was awesome... am i forgetting anyone?

oh yeah NIGEL RICHARDSSSSSSSSSSS! *sigh* i liked his set at broken better but still... wow. and he's so cute.

More than anything it was just a totally awesome experience. the I-71 crew hangs tighter than any other crew around and it's 'cause we really do like eachother. somehow we waded through all the stupid people throughout this scene and found eachother and i'll never be thankful enough to have all of you around.

this weekend was just as it should be. good music, all your friends, perfect weather, awesome setting.

*sigh*

If you weren't there, i'm sorry. you'll never know what you missed.

Special thanks to: terry, ben, chris and jen for keeping me entertained on the car-trip-chris- you owe me the end of that crazy eights game. big thanks to terry for driving and Ben for being music master. Nate- thanks for breakfast, jen- thanks for that lil boost of estrogen and for being awesome, ronald- always there with the hugs. Peanut and tim- awesome! look forward to spending more time with you.
