I've listened to people I trust (key word there) who are older than me ranging from a few years to 40 years. The point is I trust them. I wouldn't turst Joe Shmoe I meet off the street because I don't know them and don't know if what they say is true, I trust those I know and those I know actually know what they are trying to talk about.

you trust the people you want to trust, those who tell you something you want to hear... if i've 'lived the life' and say 'this lifestyle is wrong' or 'doing such-and-such is counter-intuitive to your scene', you make a judgment call of whether i'm 'trustworthy enough' or 'worthy of at least considering' that i'm right and you wrap it up in a nice, tidy little "i don't know him enough to trust him"-label.

human nature, i suspect.

of course, you don't know me well enough to trust that I may be right in this point; so, no point in continuing the discussion, i guess.

ravers are still gonna pound their scene into dust, holding on to the last vestiges of their drugged-out trip, forgetting that there's even music there, forgetting that there's even art to be found. they'll still be a handful of people throwing events for 'the right reasons'... they'll be ignored, of course, except for the people who look at the flyer and go "hey, now THAT is a party i can get fuuuuucked up at! W00t!!!...

something that has influenced everything from fashion (not lately, of course) to graphic design to commercials & marketing to music (even rap and rock) to computer programming & software engineering will only be remembered as that 'sub-culture that dressed funny and got smashed by the government'... oh, and lest we forget tHiS NiFTy wAy oF cOmmUniCaTiNG BeCauSe gOd KnOwS iT's üBeR cOOl!1!!1!!

sad thing is: your hippy parents did the counter-culture thing better than you lot.

Of course you're talking to a person who 90-95% of the time parties 100% sober not even drinking alcohol.

So I guess I'm not caring about wether I can get fucked up. I care (when I go to a party) about spending time with people I enjoy, meeting new ones, and listening to music that touches my heart and soul in a way that only one other style has done (60's rock) and doesn't have much of a scene anymore.

Well anyway,,,,, when is the next event at the CAVE ??? Oh and keep me posted on parties ya'll go to so I can meet up with ya'll I don't see many upcoming parties on BL right now!! I am really lookin for one in october!

A lot of my old school friends argue that it was the 98 - 2003 party kids that ruined everything for everyone. I listened to that.

I don't think that the current "rave" generation is doing anywhere near as much damage as the generation before... of course the private land festies get pretty drugged up, but your average parties really aren't the crackhouses you all make them out to be (the scene is too dead to have that kind of insanity).

Either way, the hippies have a lot more drugs at their events, and the drugs are much more readily available (the last time I was offered drugs by a random person at a rave, it was a hippie). why are their events never shut down? because rock music and bluegrass are acceptable. once electronic music reaches that same point we won't have as many problems imo.

you are such a youngin'

it was 98 - 01 when the damage was done, and the scene was dead by 2002.

the bitch of your generation of ravers is that they didnt learn from the mistakes of the previous generation and continue to show up @ parties fucked out of their lil minds.

wasnt there an OD at the NYE party in cincy?

wasnt there an OD at Get Together?

wasnt UGS3 all over the local media for the tons of drugs there?

yea, the massives of 98 - 01 blew the lid off of drug use at raves, but you lil motherfuckers have yet to learn from it. you think that bc the scene is small again that no one notices.

i would venture to say that the percentage of ppl fucked up @ parties now is the same or higher than they were from 98 - 01.

the huge difference between the rave scene and jam rock shit is the age of the attendees. from firsthand experience, i will say that the rave attendees are usually a few years younger than the kids that attend jam rock shows.

the persecution of raves has very little to do w/ the music. the persecution of raves comes from the perception that the only reason why kids attend them is to do drugs which is rampantly supported by the things idiots on this board tend to say.

with dipshits like Delta-9 giving us a run down of what they sold, bought, or bunked, is it really that hard to see why the authorities want to keep kids away from the drugs available at rave?

when parents hear that their kids are on drugs, they freak out and create what is known as a moral panic. that panic isnt related to the music. that panic is related to the concern these parents have for the safety of their kids.

quit fucking trying to justify yourselves, and just clean up your act.

you arent being singled out for liking EDM. you are being singled out bc most ravers like to take drugs (and actually know very little about the music).

i have had enough of this bullshit! I am so sick of people arguing about this. First off as soon as someone hears the word rave people immediately think of a drug party, trust me I know I have experienced this myself. I am going to be a teacher and this is what I want to shy away from, I love the music though. I can feel it. so if security would tighten up and KIDS let me repeat KIDS would quit showin up and gettin so messed up that when they go home their parents can tell then the scene wouldn't look so bad. It's ridiculous the amount of young teenagers I have witnessed at parties. Trust me I was one of those teens but i was only there for the music. It is so disappointing to see what this has become. I just wish we could unite on this front instead of argue like a bunch of inbred porch monkey's!!!! Grow-up and be responsible!

wasn't that thrown by someone from the 98-01 scene? ;)

I have yet to see any.

Ok, so just because I'm young that makes me a drug head? Are you just assuming that everyone who is from the 03 - present scene is on drugs? Sure I smoke the herb and trip on the rare occasion (and I know of a few people on this board that you are friends with who I've seen at EVENTS tripping on acid) but I'm not an etarded "lets go to a party and see how many drugs we can find" rolley polley.

Yah, but thats because most jam shows are in bars. As soon as it becomes all ages shows become flooded with underage custies - way more then we have. Believe me man, I throw jam shows with Music Cures All, a local charity ran by my friends.

Go to Hookahville (two people died this year). Go to Bonaroo (someone died there as well). Go to Terrapin Hill, Greatful Fest, SchwagStock, Big Summer Classic, Appalachian Uprising, Cavestock (two people were stabbed)... they'll all have WAY, WAY, WAY more drugs available and way, way, way more kids in the 14 - 18 year old demographic then your average rave. Still, where is the crackdown?

Very true, but that doesn't happen in 75% of all threads. A party of this size is bound to bring that kind of shit onto the board.

I don't know how many people over the age of 18 really have to worry about their parents. The majority of events are strictly enforced 18+ or 21+. Maybe its guys like you posting about how our scene is infested with drugged out children that make our scene look bad? Either way, i've been to probably only 3 all ages parties in the since January... there really aren't all that many (at least not worth going to.)

Well, considering that the drugs AREN'T going to go away, maybe we should do what the hippies do and actually take a political position. Oh no, that would be way to much work. Fuck it, lets bitch at kids on board, that'll really help 8(
