HEROIN addicts are being advised to smoke rather than inject following panic warnings about the deaths of two users from infected drugs.

Addaction Halton, an advice group for heroin users, warns that the a streptococcal strain of a blood-borne disease caused the death of two injecting heroin users.

Halton Borough Council is now taking urgent steps to get the message through to the borough's heroin users.

The fear is that the disease could spread rapidly among Halton's addicts if drugs from the same batch reach the borough.

The exact cause of the disease is currently being investigated. The deaths came after the two users suffered adverse reactions immediately after taking it on the Saturday night.

The signs they suffered could be an indicator of infected drugs - they developed a rash and were jaundiced in the face.

Addaction says anyone who thinks their heroin could be from the contaminated batch should seek medical help.

A spokesman said: 'This contaminated heroin is lethal. Anyone who suspects that they have been affected should attend hospital immediately.'

Now the experts are warning heroin addicts to stop injecting heroin and smoke the drug instead as the risk of infection is much reduced.

Injecting heroin can cause a range of serious health conditions, including fatal overdose, spontaneous abortion, collapsed veins, HIV/Aids and hepatitis.

Chronic users may develop collapsed veins, infection of the heart lining and valves, abscesses, cellulitis and liver dis-ease.

Heroin abuse during preg-nancy is associated with a number of risks.

And street heroin may contain non-soluble additives which can clog the blood vessels supplying the lungs, kidney or brain.

I have a serious problem with this sentence. When will reporters start getting serious about their writing?
 
Never because theyre all stupidlazy half brained fucks who dont bother to do the reaserch for any of their articles other than the sensationalized bullshit that they hear secondhand.i worked with em. they suck. i hate reporters.

that was a generalazation...the truth is that a good chunk of them are like that and some of them do bother, but its easy to do shit halfassed, and if you dont know no better, whose gonna be there to tell you its totally untrue....non drug users are ignorant as fuck to this shit, most of em at least.
 
Telling someone who injects there Heroin, to switch from I.V. to smoking, is like telling them to swim instead of fly for travel.

yeah...i thought the majority of heroin users only start injecting to get more of the drug into their system cos smoking it wastes more of the gear.
 
Maybe it's a type for spontaneous combustion. Thats probably for us phat people, meaning if you inject the poopy heroin, we dont get aids or strepheluppugus, we just pop.

i am an iv user, and personally advise not doing this, sure u need less to get high and the buzz last longer IMO but it is too addicting and much bullshit associated with it...this is just for me
 
Don't people usually "cook" their heroin for injection? And if so, shouldn't the heat kill the cooties?

Nah. You'd have to heat it for a long time to kill off all the bacteria and viruses. That would severely degrade your dope, not to mention completely boil off all the solution. It may kill some, which is why I'd recommend it.
