Hope you guys like it i'm giving this one more go around the board...i wrote this a while ago for a class about 4 years ago and got awesome reactions. Keep in mind it is a myth and that the names and postions of the people are not the same as in Greek Mythology. I just thought i would put a little twist on it. Only thing is it's really long...sorry. But, if you are patient and read it till the end, i think you will all enjoy!
Aphrodite and Apollo who had been married for ten years had a child. He wasn't just any little boy but a special one. One with stars in his eyes. His name is Gregory. The stars ever so brightly twinkled day and night. One star was silver and the other gold. They would get extremely bright when he was really happy or furious. At 18 years old when it was time for him to settle down and develop a family he discovered something, something mysterious. Every time a girl would look in his eyes she would fall madly in love with him. Of course every single girl he saw would look in his eyes because they were so beautiful and different. So eventually all the girls in Greece all fell for him. It made Gregory happy and confused because he wasn't sure which girl to pick. So he decided to take a break and wait for that one girl who was really perfect. Little did he know he soon wouldn't be able to find that special girl. A dark cloud soon would settle over Gregory and his plans to find the wife of his dreams.
Gregory decided to hold a feast and a dance to find that special girl. That same night His cousin Athena goddess of wisdom did something horrible. As soon as she saw how all the girls fell for him she got very jealous. No one loved Athena, she didn't have a husband or anyone interested in her. So, the night of the ball where every lovely woman stood to dance with Gregory she cast a spell that would make everyone think he was evil. Then she figured he would become so depressed he would hopefully die. As soon as the spell was cast the girl dancing with Gregory pushed him away and ran away screaming along with everyone else. From that day on no one even looked at him. While Gregory did fall into despair and isolated himself inside his house he didn't die like Athena wanted. But, Athena didn't care he was unhappy just like her and that made her feel great!
Athena's nephew, Hades in charge of the underworld and death decided to pay Greogory a visit. He knew all about Athena and her stupid spell and wanted to tell Gregory all about it and how to break it. As soon as he showed up Gregory didn't want to talk. Hades went into his house anyway. "If you don't talk to me you'll never find out why you can't find yourself a wife" "Okay so speak." "Athena has cast a spell on you that makes every woman hate you." "What, i thought she was a good person." "She is but a jealous one at that." Hades then told him everything, the plans, the tricks all to keep him unhappy. "There is only one way to make your life a joyful one again." said Hades. "To Break this unpleasant spell you must find the silver rose in the forest of Evil Dreams (a forest with half magical happiness and half evil madness). As soon as you touch the rose located in the middle of the happy and the evil the spell will be broken. Then Gregory now very happy set off for his adventure.
What Hades failed to research was that Athena has a back up plan. She made the rose easy to find but, once the soul the spell was cast on touches it, the rose will melt and the person will die.
Greogry soon arrived at this Evil Dreams place and went deep inside to find lots of brances to cut through and lots of slimbing to do before he could even reach where the rose was. He soon came to a lighted path. As he walked along the trail, leaves of gold fell from the trees and as they hit the ground turned to snowflakes. Then he realized there was a frosty reddish fog ahead of him. He looked beyond and saw a dragon-dinosaur fighting a tarantula-scorpian. He also saw the thron bushes he saw in the beginning and he noticed it was a very dark part of the forest. Very intrigued by the surroundings he stepped closer and closer to the red fog. He then stopped when he saw the silver coated rose in a glass covered with hearts with Gregory's name written on it. Starring at it he noticed a black cloud over it with rain falling and petals dropping turning to glowing hearts. He gently grabbed the rose and it bloomed in his hands. All the sudden he felt warm inside and very happy. So he started walking home and as he left, everything behind him disappeared in a puff of smoke. Then he started to walk through the lighted path with leaves turning to snow when all the sudden he appeared in his house. Lying down on his bed with him mom crying next to him. He looked down at the rose that made him feel so good and it was black. The petals had fallen and turned into very dull black hearts. "Mom why are you crying?" She did not answer him it was almost as if she didn't hear a word he said. Then he saw himself lying on the bed dead. Watching his mother cry from a distance.
Completely satisfied with her work Athena appeared before him and told him she loved him with all her heart but never wanted to see him again. She told him everything Hades did but added on why he is dead. She then kissed him on the cheek and he was gone forever.
The stars we have in our universe represent everyone who ever loved and cared for Gregory. Aphrodite and Apollo lived in happiness knowing that thir son was in the stars looking down on them. So everytime you look at the stars twinkling and shinning remember Gregory and his star eyes.
