Benzos If midozalam is short acting, why do I still feel sleepy?

Today I had some fent and midazolam for sedation during a procedure.

Thais was about 5 hors ago. But I still feel sleep and too chilled out. Why is this? If midozalam is short acting

i went through an endoscopy a while ago and had exactly the same for sedation - fentanyl and midazolam

after the surgery i was really stupid/fucked up, typical benzo like. the nurse gave me a tray with food and i let it fall on the ground and started laughing hysterically. i was slurring words and then my friend had to escort me cuz i was in no condition to leave alone, we went to the mall and i kept stumbling and she said i kept wanting to hold hands with her while we walked and and i decided to eat chinese food... typical benzo stupid decisions, even hours after surgery. i got home and fell asleep

so i don't know the reason, but the same happened to me

It's short acting yes, but it will still take between 8-24 hours for it to completely be out of your system... Long acting benzos can take multiple days to wear off after a single dose!

No benzo takes 'multiple days to wear off'... Benzos such as Diazepam may have a long half life (circa 36–200 hours for the main active metabolite), but it's grossly incorrect to suggest that a 10mg valium tab could take up to 8 days to wear off.

Half life may often correlate with, but certainly doe not dictate, a drug's duration of action. It's a massive misconception amongst many users.

Mind I did not specifiy it had to be 10mg diazepam and I did not claim you'd be off your tits for 8 days, just that it is possible (for some) to feel effects for several days. You'd be wrong in thinking that if you can't feel the drug's effects anymore, or your high has worn off, that it is no longer affecting you. Psychological habituation can occur yeah, but you'd notice that having a few drinks a day or two after taking long-acting benziodiazepines that you'll get more drunk.

Any long lasting one... Flubromazepam, diclazepam, rohypnol, diazepam, etc. Just because subjective effects end before the drug is completely metabolized and excreted does not mean it is no longer biologically active. After a few hours you might not be feeling anything anymore but that does not mean that the drug has magically detached itself from the GABA A receptors in your brain and gone to hang out in the periphery without binding to anything. They wouldn't use long acting benzos for alcohol/benzo withdrawals if you had to redose every few hours when you start to feel the effects wear off.
