If its legal to sell needles OTC in your state, can pharmacists refuse?

Go into the drug store ,go to the counter and ask for example 10 1cc insulin syringes with a 29 or 30 guage needle, and don't act like your waitng to see what they say,do it like you were asking for anything like 10 packs of gum ..lol..don't act all nervous,if anything they don't give a shit what you are gonna do with them, but at least keep it on a buyer and business level,,you are the customer and they say the customer is always right..lol we all know thats often bullshit but go in and tell them what you want and don't take any shit from them...It's none of their fucking business if you have diabetes or if they are for your " grandmother, aunt, mother whatver lie you wanna tell them "IF they Ask" and like i said it's not there business unless you are a young kid or something so if they won't sell them to you complain to the manager(only if you are not holding any drugs!) and go somewhere else..
This has been my experience as well. It's always been legal here, at least since I started injecting. Only ever had one pharmacist act like a bitch. I was a newb, it was one of the first times I bought needles, so I didn't even Know they come in 10-packs. So I asked for a single syringe, lol, she started asking me what it was for and shit, I don't remember what I answered but I think I said I had diabetes. Well, she charged me for a 10pack (2eur, nbd, but still..) but took out a single rig and handed me that.

I was like 'does she want me to reuse this syringe and fuck up my veins?' but as I said I was a newb so I just took the one and left. I would've just gone to another pharmacy normally but it was after business hours, I had a evening shift at work so it was a pharmacy that was on call. (or how do you say this in English? One pharmacy every X miles stays open until 10pm and during the weekends. It varies from day to day, or few days at least). So yeah she was my only option. Stupid bitch sittin' on her high horse. But yeah, that was the only time I've ever had a problem buying rigs.

and yes we can refuse. there is no law forcing us to sell syringes. You can buy syringes yes, but we dont have to sell them. Just as an owner of a liquor store or a bar tender can refuse to sell you or serve you alcohol. Just because you can buy it , it does not mean we have to sell it to you. Pharmacist who care and want people to stop doing drugs do not want to sell syringes, plain and simple
I'm sorry but your posts are incredibly ignorant. I'd bet that most people who have a needle/drug problem have no doubt been asked by their personal social environment (that means friends and loved ones, not strangers like, say, a pharmacist they never met before) to quit using or at least quit shooting up. Maybe not all of us needle users, but I'm willing to bet that it's definitely most of us.

If being asked by loved ones or close friends doesn't work and they still continue to use needles, what do you think a lecture from a pharmacist they don't know will accomplish? Right, nada. Especially if you can just buy them legally. These people know that if they spend just a little more time looking they'll find clean syringes. If they choose not to go to another pharmacy and just use an old/used (by themselves or, God forbid, other people) syringe, I think a (small) part of the blame belongs to the pharmacist who refused to sell him or her clean syringes.

Of course the user him/herself deserves the lion's share of the blame because after all it's them who choose to use a dirty needle in the end. But I for one can imagine being refused clean needles when you're dopesick might be a reason to say 'fuck it', and use a dirty needle if the next pharmacy (or wallgreens or whatever else sells them in the US) is too far and you're hurting, desperate for a fix.

You should think about that the next time you refuse to sell someone needles... You're not helping these people. Quite the opposite, actually.

James Brown in San Antonio; could u point me in direction of HEB that does sale them with out hassle?

Yes, it is legal for pharmacists to sell syringes to recreational drug users where I live. Oddly enough they charge more for them if you claim recreational use (and you have to, to get them w/o a 'script) than if you have a 'script for them due to Diabetes.

When selling them to you they have to offer you a pamphlet on how/where to "get help" hahaha, but you can just decline it.

Also, in many cases the pharmacist may refuse to sell them, due to moral reasons or whatever (similar to birth control dispensing laws), so it is entirely possible to get refused. But there is a needle exchange program in my city, so it's not too much of an issue.

Honestly people like to ride their high horses, even to work.

Caring pharm: what a joke you just have your mind made up on what other people can an shouldn't do.

As said before if they really cared an wanted to do the job they were hired for, they would help you no questions asked.

It's legal in idaho, I've been turned down a couple times despite the law.
It helps to know exactly what needles your getting (cc gauge brand) an a lil eye contact never hurt.

If you fail go else where an try again.

Some of the big name pharmacies may turn you down, but mom n' pops will typically sell them to you. Just know what you want, be respectful, and don't use junkie speak to describe them. If they turn you down, accept that and go somewhere else. They're probably doing it for a reason

There are needle exchange programs where you can get clean syringes but only in large cities where drug abuse is prevalent
I will add a lot of these needle exchanges, you have to exchange old needles to get new ones, hence the word 'exchange'.

It is up to the pharmacists disgression, but they shouldn't judge a book by it's cover, they never know if that person has diabetes, or not.

So wait a second, you're against the transmission of blood-borne illnesses but yet you're against selling clean syringes to those with the money to buy them? That doesn't make any sense.

Thankfully I've never encountered a pharmacist where I live who is a moralist when it comes to selling medical supplies.

LOL yeah don't get aids but no i wont sell you cleans either

Life has so much to offer. Please do not do drugs that can kill you. If you must use a mind altering substance please choose a safer alternative than heroin. Alcohol is legal and far less dangerous. I am not saying become and alcoholic, but I am saying there are safer alternatives
Heroin is so addictive. most people think they can shoot up one time. This is not the case . Most people get addicted to heroin after one use.
The odds are against you. Many addicts die of unintentional overdoses. Your life is worth something, if it is not to you it is to someone. Doing drugs hurts people you love and hurts you.

Someone you love or who loves you will get hurt. Your life is worth living. We do not want to see you get Hep B or hep C or Hiv. But we do want you to live. That is why we don't want to sell you needles.

Did you watch the series Breaking Bad? It is about a high school chemistry teacher who starts to make methamphetamine and starts selling it. Do you see how many people get hurt or die in that series from the use of methamphetamine. the same is true with heroin
Also there are bad batches of heroin and many people are dying because they are shooting up with other drugs and poisons and don't realize it. Please get help. We want to see people healthy and living a wonderful life. I want that for all of you. Thank you for reading. Peace to you and Good Luck.

are you fucking serious? suggesting to use a drug that cant kill you and in the same breathe recommending alcohol? and for the record i know many people who have IV'd heroin once and not liked it, uve seen too many movies and have no idea of the real world, only what your textbooks told you.

you dont want us getting blood borne diseases and think the answer to that is to not sell new sharps? so when some junkies are so desperate they want to get well they just all share the same blunt HIV-ridden needle? just say no, right?

i left the breaking bad shit in their cause ive never read something so ridiculous and it proves my point above.. that was A TV SHOW, NOT REAL LIFE. UVE SEEN TOO MANY MOVIES AND DO MORE HARM THAN GOOD. fuck im glad i live in a place where it pretty much is illegal to not sell you needles, and when you ask for them they treat you like any other customer, with respect. i dont use needles but reading this from a pharmacist is just so fucked up.

edit- im sorry i know im being pretty harsh but seriously if you want to help and learn the REALITIES of drug use get your hands dirty, volunteer for a needle exchange program, meet these lost souls. dont wish them love and hope from behind your pharmacy counter, you think they havent heard that from loved ones before? medical professionals should have to learn the realities of some things and not just read textbooks and pass tests.

Most do. I have leveled with one pharmacist amd explained how clean needles saves tax dollars.

Wal-Mart here isn't supported to ask why and I just ask if its company policy to ask.

So look up state laws, company policies, and needle exchanges.

Reusing needles is bad. You could at least consider either abstaining till you get cleans or cleaning and sharpening. Easy way to get hep c, blow a vein, or get a nasty infection.
