This is something I wrote the last time I was dopesick and hating myself. Here goes...
I'll make you feel better than you even knew was possible. Break-ups, jobs, failures, deaths, bad days - I'll take all your pain away. I'll drape a warm blanket around your shoulders, hold your hand, and tell you that everything is fine. And for a few hours, everything will be. Your body and mind will be one with the clouds. You'll slowly, carelessly glide over your family, friends, job - they can't touch you.
But in return, I'm going to take your money, your relationships, your faith, your body, you mind, your self-esteem, your dignity, your freedom, and your life. Your world will gradually get smaller and smaller until I'm the only thing you care about. Your family will wonder why you're not "you" anymore. They'll wonder why you always look so pale and tired, why you hide your arms, why you're so moody and withdrawn, why you don't get excited anymore, why all your passion for life is gone. They will figure it out - they are not as dumb as you think they are. After awhile, I'll be your identity. I'll be your reason to live, your reason to get out of bed, I'll be you.
