If a person can't resist something in their posession, is it indicative of a problem?

Be it crisps, chocolate, alcohol or other drugs; if a person is unable to resist take any of previously mentioned things whilst in their posessions, but can easily avoid purchasing such products when they don't want them, is it indicative of a problem?
I can easily not order stims, but if I order them for a weekend and they come early I have a hard time resisting using them, even if it is a work night. Those other things I mentioned I have similar problems(?) with (though to a lesser degree).
And is there a way to treat it or learn to deal with it better?

i'm the same way, if there are stims (especially ones i can vape/smoke) then i will binge on them. Same with snacks. I just keep them out of the house and there are no issues. I guess you're looking for an in between but for these things there's just no in between for me. I can leave methylone sitting around but something like EPH goes fast. If you lead a busy life and don't have time to eat snacks, drink alcohol or go on a stim binge then if you're responsible enough you won't use them nearly as much IME. If i have something to do the next day i just can't take stimulants or certain drugs, but when i was younger i would anyway, maybe you'll change as you get older.

It could mean a problem is beggining. But honestly I think its just human nature to want to do what you have whether it be chocolate or cocain.

I think it depends whether it's a compulsion accompanied by unpleasant feelings.

i.e. is it "I really want chocolate" or "I really need chocolate". The former implies craving and satisfaction, whilst the later implies some for of stress that is relieved when the need is fulfiled. I guess the best way to tell is by comapring your desire to the feeling that you get for water when extremely thirsty. If it is similar then it's probably a compulsion, if not it's probably just a healthy desire for pleasure.

In relation to the drugs, if you resist taking them when they come early do you feel very unpleasant or anxious? If so it could be indicative of the beginning of a problem, as I've found that people like that (me included) typically have addictive tendencies. Best way to treat it is recognise it and set limits. Don't allow yourself to succumb to the feeling and find other means to relieve the tension.

I agree with crimson, it may be the beginning of something.

Once said substance is in your hand, can you put it back? Do you get anxious if you don't consume it?

I had this trouble when I was using too much oxy prescription. I would give the bottle to my dad to hold onto because I had a tendancy to go overboard with them. It wasn't always like that. It used to be if I knew they were there, just that alone was enough. I think it's a self-control issue with me.

I don't take the pills anymore but now have the same problem with alcohol. Say, I can buy a 12 pack and think it should last a few days. I sometimes go nuts with it and drink them in one day. The more that's there, the more I will drink. :( Back to buying 4 packs.

The only thing that's ever got ahold of me that way is cocaine. Anything else I can leave alone until an appropriate time but if I have coke, I'll do some in 5 minutes or less regardless of circumstances. I really wish I had never done it so I didn't even have any memory of it.
My oldest brother once said to me, "rehab will never work for me cuz they can't take away memories and that's what always fucks me up -the memories."
Me too, brother, me too...

No anxiety or negative feelings if I don't take something in my posession. Just a case of wanting it because its fun.
