Idenifying Poppies

I've noticed a bunch of poppies growing in my area, some in peoples yards, some randomly along the road. I was wondering if there was a way to idenify them as papvera somniferum just by looking at them. I heard if the crown of the pod is "orgranic" looking green then they are the p.s. variety but I've seen pics on erowid that have tanish crowns. Any help is appreciated, and I would have posted on poppies.org but the admin disabled all new sign ups.

I cant really discribe the crown too well but the leaves are quite obviously different.
the soldier poppies(the ones you DONT want) have less leaves, theyre kind of papery thin & flatter.
The poppies you DO want are bushier & fuller.

there are tons of kinds out there......search through google looking for "dried poppy florals" and go from there
