Hey, a friend of mine had heard of a drug with the street name Eu4ia (not sure on the spelling... basically euphoria but with a 4 in it), and I was wondering if anyone knew what the active ingredients in this were? Sounds like some mix of mdma and opiates or something to me, but thats just a wack-ass guess :P Thanks...
 
Well, if this is TRUE Euphoria, it would be 4-methy-aminorex, also known as Ice. It's a stimulant, and sounds pretty fun... like high quality meth but with an extremely clear head.
I dunno why you don't see more of it, it's not *terribly* hard to synthesize, it's just that it involves PPA, which the FDA either already has or is trying to ban - I'm not sure of the details, and I can't vouch for this, as I haven't been in a drugstore in ages.
If you're lucky, it's 4-methyl-aminorex, if you're not, it's probably meth - hopefully good meth. There's info on Erowid about this.

Umm Ye, CMB is right, it is euphoric and very much like crystal meth in its effects (it looks like rock salt) also known as shabu, pink champagne, and brown ice on the street (in Sydney anyway).
And its very popular amongst the working girls (pros) and the gays - its great for rooting for hours (no I aint gay).

PPA isn't that hard to get - yeah, the FDA has pulled it, but youcan still order poundsof shit shit for pennies a gram from overseas sources... trying getting a workable amount of cyanogen bromide ..
As for why we don't see it more - it's not horribly complex to make, but if you have the setup to make Ice, then you could also make some REALLY GOOD METH... when the costs of the two are compared, and you factor in the work-load, the meth is more profitable...
Sales are another problem... we made Ice a total of two times, and it was a bitch to sell because NO ONE know what 4-MAR was ... we would try to explain, but it didn't matter.. we sold almost our full batch to one guy and explain EVERYTHING, even rpitned out documents... well, 3 days later I over-heard him selling it as "Ice, yeah, it's like refined meth" .. people just don't understand the chemistry behind their drugs ... from then on we stuck to meth, asthe profit margin was higher - still, for a club or party, 4-MAR is FAR BETTER IMO! Easily worth the extra 25% ..

PhreeX, correct me if I'm wrong, but one of the synths I've seen for 4-mar involved a cloud of cyanide gas created during one of the reactions. To me that would seem like quite a deterant to someone like Billy Bob with his second rate meth lab in Indiana.
 
If only those clandestine meth makers could use thier brains and figure out how to get rid of the toxic waste they produce.... ahhh in a perfect world.
 
Yes, the 4-MAR synth can be kinda of nasty, and we did work under an improvised fume-hood for fear of something going wrong - the synth we took didn't call for any deadly clouds of cyanide, but some of the precursors were new to us and some steps of the rxn looked like they had the chance to be scary if something went wrong...
A fume-hood is one of the easiest things you can make.. we had a huge setup in a lanudry-room.. it was about 7" long and 4" wide, totally sealed (made of wood) .. we pumped the exahust into a 35 gallon drum of water - ie the tube from the fan/airpump went down into a barrel of water, the gas then escaped through that... yeah, it's a far cry from HASMAT or OSHA approved, but it's better then just pumping it into the air directly. of course if you don't have a large are to vent your gasses you don't want to do this.. the setup was large enough to run entire rxn's in..

Um, it's not hard to do, it's just that MOST of your meth-labs are people following a "recipe" that don't know much about the chemistry end of it.. we always took the time to recover our red-phosphorus, distill our solvents, etc.. ok, sometimes we did, other times we just put our waste in milk jugs or coke bottles and threw them in dumpsters.. but it's not difficult to do, it can just be a pain in the ass when you're working a round-the-clock lab and all you're glassware is tied up as is, forcing you to improvise and work with various kitchen/garage found containers..
