I have been a methamphetamine addict for the last 13 Years. Today after seeing my family nurse practioner. she prescribed me the anti-depressant, Celexa per my request. I have two Questions. Is there any since in me even starting a treatment while continuing to be a user? Also, My Health Provider did not seem to refer to my health history or inquire about my past or current drug abuse but i noticed when i googled the drug it is a no-no to prescribed anit- depressants to addicts. So, whats the deal? I apologize if I posted this in the wrong forum.

Wow. Thank you. Now I wil research serotonin. Do you know if there is an anti-depressant that wouldnt cause serotonin syndrome?

Not off the top of my head, most common antidepressants method of action involves serotonin at least to a degree. Wellbutrin (bupropion) is one that I can think of off the top of my head that doesn't (at least not directly). However, it is a NDRI and therefore interacts with amphetamine and methamphetamine in an equally dangerous way (theres a possibility of extreme overstimulation with this mixture).

To the best of my knowledge, its not a good idea to mix any antidepressant with methamphetamine unless directed to by a doctor.
