Ibogaine with long QT syndrome

I just took an ECG / EKG and discovered I have a long QT interval. I've been told it's dangerous to take flood doses of ibogaine with this heart condition. Can anyone provide more information?

Ibogaine, like a few other drugs, blocks a protien in the heart responsible for maintaining a healthy heart rhythm. The protien is known as hERG and if you interfere with it too much it can elongate the QT interval to the point where your heart doesn't pump effectively any more.

Avoid taking ibogaine at all (or a few other drugs likemethadone) without some medical supervision.

Thanks Sekio.

Fortunately methadone is not something I'm disappointed that I won't be able to take (it'd be ironic considering I am / was planning to do ibogaine).

I went back to the doctor and got another two ECGs to be sure. These ones actually came out totally fine. When I sat down with him to compare the results, he assured me the long QT syndrome in the first report was most likely a glitch in the machine, as the report indicated some external interference. I'm now tossing up whether the chance to come back from depression is worth the slight chance that the doctor was wrong and I'll die very painfully in the middle of an apocalyptic oneirogen trip.

A large part of Ibogaine's effects is due to its kappa-opioid activity, which is associated with anti-addictive and antidepressant effects.

Salvia divinorum also does this, and, like Ibogaine, can provide a difficult yet rewarding trip that leaves you basking in a peaceful, grounded afterglow.

...If done right. Meaning, chewing the leaves or making a tea out of the leaves. Consider this "Ibogaine lite," the advantage for you being the absence of cardiovascular risk.

Not to say that Salvia is a "lite" experience, but compared to Iboga/Ibogaine it's certainly less taxing on the body.
