Ok, I do have a lot of experience with opiates. In the past, I've taken oxycodone, hydrocode, dilaudid, methadone, tramadol, and codeine... I've done a fair amount of these throughout the past 6 years.

More recently I've made it almost a habit to take 15-20 mgs of methadone 3-4 times a month. Every now and then I'll get some Codeine, Hydrocodone, or Oxycodone.

Now I haven't really noticed much of a tolerance, since I'm not a daily user, and today, I insufflated 2 30 mgs extended release morphine. Swallowed another, then chewed and swallowed the last one, this all took place within about a 2 hour timeframe.

Since I'm not familiar with morphine like I am the other opiates, I have a hard time figuring exactly where the right dosage is.
But what I'm wondering is... did I take too much? Or can my body handle it? I'm obviously not opiate naive, but as I said before, I haven't really noticed a significant tolerance either, I can't even recall ever going through any sort of withdrawals...

Thanks for you time.

One does need to be dependent, really, to gain some tolerance to a drug or class of drugs, for tolerance is created by not just one mechanism, but it is rather complex. With morphine, the oral dose is usually said to be equipotent to the same amount of oral hydrocodone per mg, so 30 mg morphine (oral) = 30 mg hydrocodone (oral). That said, that is not always the case for everyone, and it is not so cut and dry. Some people respond the same at lower doses, than others, to oral morphine because they have an ability to absorb it better through oral administration than others do - the bioavailability really varies from person to person with morphine especially, with lots of points in between, so it is not as if you are either able to absorb it well or not, rather it is more of a sliding scale. Also, some people respond the same to lower doses than others or with more side-effects, with the same hypothetical opiate tolerances, if they are biologically more sensitive to the drug, and this varies a good deal, too, with morphine. Oral morphine is really different for everyone, and morphine, on the whole, is different for everyone as it is. I would not have suggested taking that much morphine, if you are not familiar with it, and I would not have suggested insulfation as the best ROA for extended release morphine. It does seem you have an opioid tolerance, to an extent, but not a huge one, and it doesn't seem you have ever been dependent or addicted to opioids. So, no, I definitely would not have suggested you take this much, but if you have done a "fair amount" of various opioids over the past 6 years, I really don't know where you tolerance sits. 15 - 20 mg methadone is pretty hefty in terms of an opioid dose - certainly not a dose for an opioid-naive individual by ANY standards, but I cannot say how much cross-tolerance has built up, or how you tolerate morphine based on your biology.

Thanks for the reply. For anyone wondering, 120 mg of ER morphine for me ended up equaling out to a pretty good nod, plenty of relaxation, lots of hiccups and definitely calling in for work. Hardly any nausea strangely. I did have one very odd and unusual incident though. About 2 hours after I took them, I had a horrible and unbearable pain in my abdomen... it felt exactly as if I had been punched square in the diaphragm. This has never happened to me before, I was wondering if anyone had any ideas.

Also I've taken 30 mg of Methadone quite a few times before, the sweet spot however for me is 20 mg though. Methadone seems to have somewhat of a dissociative effect on me, which I find unpleasant at higher doses.

To be honest, I thought that most if not all drugs had a semi permanent tolerance. Definitely the case with benzodiazepines and Alcohol.

You basically wasted 60 mg's, intranasal BA of morphine is very low, even with IR or pure morphine. Plugging offers you the best BA of all the methods except IV/IM but you should break the time release first.

I find methadone the most disgusting recreational opioid there is. It's just way too heavy and not euphoric at all to me. I feel sorry for ppl that have to take that shit for maintenance.

I would agree with you... except everything that went into my nose, dripped down my throat and into my stomach anyways.

It is very heavy, lucky for me I get a decent glow from it. Everyone handles it differently. :)

OK its like this. Morphines oral/insuflated bioavailability is just fucking horibbble.
So it would take a reallly high dose to be dangerous when taken in those routes..
Even 100mg morphine pill for a first timer is not alot considering only 30% is effecting you so like 33mg really...

I really enjoy Methadone for recreational use. I find it euphoric, but not as euphoric as Oxy at all; however the length of the high of Methadone vs Oxy is so much better. Keeps you feeling right a whole lot longer.
