I think that I may have DSPS
Hey,
All of my life for as long as I can remember I have had trouble going to bed at a normal time - i toss and turn or watch tv until 4 - 5 am often no matter what i do.. i am 31 now and it has been since before age 10 that i have done this..
i get up often after noon or shortly before if i am lucky..
i have told myself time and again that i am being irresponsible and illogical, but now after reading about DSPS (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Delayed_sleep_phase_syndrome) it makes more sense to me that i have something going on a little beyond my control.. i have never made the conscious decision to stay up too late so that i can't go to work.. it just happens to me again and again...
do any of you guys have DSPS? do you do any treatments? does marijuana help?
it says that half of people with DSPS also have other conditions - in my case schizophrenia - also that it can resemble 'school refusal' disorder which i had tons of as a child now that i read about it.. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/School_refusal)
i think that i will for sure bring this up to my county doctor when i see her in a month.. until then i can research a bit.. i want to know how to use pot to combat it properly.. maybe i will take my psych meds earlier in the evening like now (8pm).. they are very sedating..
thank you for any input!
