Ok I have been a opiate user for along time. Oxy is my choice of drug. I think Iam allergic now because every time I take a few oxy pills, I get rashes on my arms, stomach and face. Also my hands are flushed red. This is so wierd. Did I develop an allergic reaction now to opiates? Does anyone experiance this?

I developed allergies to banana, avocado, and kiwi in my late 20's. my dad became allergic to shellfish in his 50's. Body chemistry changes over time. what you described certainly sounds like an allergic reaction. That sucks.

You can develop allergies and/or overcome them.

Also different brands of the same pharmaceutical drug, can have different effects on you, due to the different (inactive) ingredients such as pill binders and colorants.

As I learned on an episode of House, it is actually possible for long-term opiate users to become allergic to them via the receptors reading the opiates backwards and having them cause pain instead of relieving it. it's also possible it's a specific opiate you're allergic to, so try different ones and see if they all make you sick.

I only developed nausea/itching after years of opiate use too. That's how sensitization occurs: you encounter something repeatedly and your immune system starts identifying it as foreign. Same with seasonal allergies, food allergies, etc. It may not be a true "allergy" you're experiencing, but a sensitivity. (Plus opiates release histamine, so if you're already battling seasonal allergies it could just be overloading your system).

That's a gross oversimplification, but you get the pic. Try taking a non-sedating antihistamine like Claritin or Zyrtec 45 minutes before dosing to see if it helps.

it is entirely possible. for example, my favorite food in the whole entire world is shrimp. good lord back in the day someone could give me some shrimp and cocktail sauce...and by some shrimp i mean 40-50 cooked shrimp. i would eat ALL OF IT.
developed an allergy to shrimp about 4 years ago. :( i can still eat two or three but it gives me HORRIBLE stomach pains, diarrhea, etc. suuuuuuucks :( jesus now i want some damn shrimp.
as for me, i'm crazy and next time shrimp is going to be served, i'm going to pop three or four benadryl, eat a few, and see if i get the same problem. I CAN'T LIVE WITHOUT SHRIMP. did i mention i love shrimp?

but yes, it sounds like you have developed an allergy to opiates. booooooo! best not to take them anymore because the allergy could get worse over night and kill you.

I think your problem might be because of histamine intolerance. I've the same problem.

Don't take any food that contains (large amounts of) histamine while high on an opioid compound and take an antihistamine along with your substance of choice. Best would be to take no opioids at all, but if you want to continue taking them, space your uses apart as far as possible.

I for myself have stronger reactions to histamine containing food as to most opioids, even though i thought it's the other way around.

Desloratadine is very good for combating histamine related symptoms, because it is not only working on histamine receptors by blocking them but also functions as a mast cell stabilizer.

I've also broken out in giant hives on my arms and hands when I've taken oxycodone, and would recommend trying other opiates. I have no such reaction to hydrocodone, hydromorphone or oxymorphone.

That's Hyperalgesia, not an allergic reaction. Totally not the same thing.

To the OP: it could be the opiate, or it could be something inactive in the pill, as Redrawl suggested. Try doing a CWE on your oxy pills & then take a little bit of your filtered solution and see how you feel. I'd also pick up some antihistamines regardless.

But be carefull, when you keep getting allergic reactions, eventually you can go into anafylactic shock, that will kill you if doctors don't save your life, like KillSurfCity said.
