background: I have been on suboxone for over a year after getting clean from heroin. I am no longer able to afford the suboxone and must stop taking it. I made it through 7 days of the suboxone detox i was almost there but i relapsed on heroin for two days, totally erasing all my hard work.

It has been one and a half days since my last heroin dose, but I have been eating loperamide like it is candy just to feel somewhat more normal. I feel like i am doing more harm than good with the loperamide because I have read on this forum and others that it has withdrawals of its own. Yesterday I took 60 mg of loperamide today I took 30 but I feel like i need a bit more. I don't really want to take more than 40 today.

I just want to be clean and free of the withdrawals, but seem to get so close every time i try only to fail again.

Does anyone have any input about the loperamide specifically? or anything else.

Welcome to Blue Light..

The deal with lope and all other substances that affect the opiat receptors is that they can prevent or greatly slow the progression through acute withdrawal.. We need to allow the receptors to shut down and in order to do this the opiat receptors. Using lope or kratom or other things is useful if someone is trying to bide their time before they continue their addiction but IMO will just prolong and possibly prevent someone from getting out of acutes.

The medications I would explore the use of fror detox would be:

>Clonidine< DOSED EVER FOUR HOURS..

one of either
>NEURONTIN< >HERE< >HERE<
OR >Lyrica<

>A BENZO BUT JUST AT NIGHT<
>a nsaid<
>melatonin<
tylenol

thanks for your input. i can try to see a doctor soon to get clonidine but until then i am not mentally strong enough to detox without some form of relief.

if i can get the withdrawals down to a manageable point by tapering on the loperamide, i should be able to stick with it. does anyone on here have experience with this?

edit: benzos are also not an option.
