:?I was taking 40 to 60 mg of hydrocodone for 5 years and was cut off at doc did not want to chase them on the street so I went to the methadone clinic they started me on 30ml and went to 35 after three days,This crap is to strong can't drive or sleep
I am going to quit cold turkey in two days ,is there any advise to make this any less painfull?/ or do I just have to man up?
I really think I can do this and should have never gone to clinic to begin with. Waiting for someone Thanks fyi I have xanix if someone thinks they will help the process:?

I just made a post or thread will I be notified by e-mail or my accont if someone wants to chime in thanks again

They could be helpful, but then you run the risk of dependence for it as well and I doubt you want it. Congrats on your choice and good luck on becoming clean!

Use xanax in combination with melatonin only for sleep during acute withdrawal. Best advice is to seriously man up, because quitting is a full time job. You are going to want to supplement daily with Multi Vitamin, Folic acid, B6, and B1 (Thiamine) as well as L-Glutamine and L-Tyrosine. A hot bath can be your best friend in greatly reducing all withdrawal symptoms, as well as having some good movies to watch. Congratulations and good luck.

Stop taking the methadone asap and just detox from the hydrocodone. If you can find a suboxone that use that to detox with, it would make your detox painless. I would only use the xanax to sleep at night if you struggle to (which i'm sure you will). Just go easy on the xanax and only take when needed and don't take it for more than 7 days a row probably less even. The last thing you need is to catch a benzo habit. GL

look into the benefits of clonidine, really made a night and day change in symptoms.. should be no problem to get, just go see a dr and tell him what you need it 4, worked wonders for me. I agree with the get ready ready..

Unfortunately be switching to methadone you have increased the time you will withdraw significantly. It has such a long half life for most people 24 hours is about average but up to 140 hours in some people. so if you are on 35mg, though it may very greatly, you can have ten days from last dose of methadone as a good time to start feeling significantly better.

Clonidine is a nonnarcotic blood pressure med, you only take it for the withdraw and then quickly taper off of it with no withdraw... its cheap and easy to get a script for in fact the dr that cut you on the hydrocodone should be willing to give them to you. GODSPEED

No, it doesn't email you. You can easily subscribe to threads you have started or are interested in, then you will have a list of your subscribed threads that you can easily check and it will show you which ones have new posts. Or to check threads that you have started you can click on your name at the top and then click "find latest started threads" on the menu at the left side of your screen. If you need more help or have more questions about how the forum functions you can make a post in our Support forum here: Support

As to your question, there are a lot of things you can do to help with withdrawals. Since you've only been on methadone for a few days it shouldn't be very hard. It will slowly leave your system and withdrawal symptoms will come on gradually and shouldn't really be any worse than your hydrocodone withdrawals since you've only been on methadone for a few days (but they will be a lot less sudden and may be diminished in severity for that reason). I am glad you decided to get off of the methadone. Getting off methadone after taking it long-term is 1000 times worse than getting off hydrocodone. I feel it's a crime for clinics to even give someone methadone for a hydrocodone addiction.

*If you are going to use Xanax use it only sparingly when you absolutely need it because you do NOT want to end up with a physical dependence to Xanax.

I'm a little confused. How long have you been on methadone?

The xanax will help, but as others have said use it sparingly and only for a few days, you don't want to trade one addiction for another.

Try to spend as much time asleep as possible, and take looong showers/baths. Staying in the shower was the only thing that stopped me from sweating and shivering at the same time.
