Opioids i have to travel oversease,to US,should i bring my prescribed drugs?

ii was prescribed opiods and benzodiazepines for anxiety and i have to travel (i.e fly) to the US with my elder brother,

however i dont want him to know that im carrying those pills,would it be ok to check the pills in my checked baggage,since i dont think i can put them in my carry on my brother will surely notice as they open my carry on.how can this be done? should i leave them in their blister packs or take them out and put them in an aspirin bottle

im not sure if this is allowed on the site,but the medicines are prescribed to me now and without them i would withraw terribly.

any help would be appreciated

i have to travel from spain to italy at the end of month. I will carry subuxone, i´ll carry the pills on its original box, and ill carry the prescription too, to avoid problems

Carry the prescription and the bottles with you and openly declare them at customs an you should have no problems
If they're legally prescribed medicines they aren't going to hassle you too much as long as you have maybe some sort of documentation.
And leave them in the blister packs, original packaging only, anything else looks like smuggling.
You don't have any reason to hide them, so don't.
My mother travels to the US all the time with an arsenal of meds including zopis, seroquel, and occasionally xanax

thanks el and holy for the replies.i cant have my brother see that i have prescription medication,so i cannot carry it in my carry on,i want to know if i put them in my checked bag would they open the bag to inspect in front of us,or do they inspect somewhere else.
plus if they want to confiscate the medications, would i be summoned and questioned,i really have no idea, please people who travel often or have information,help..

apart from this i thought to the extremes of body packing it,though its prescribed i simply cannot have my family know for weird reasons.. i wonder if the sniffer dogs at airports can sniff pills/capsules... im going through heathrow or manchester airports in a month

to legally carry prescriptions, they need to be in the original bottle you received them in from the pharmacy.
you should also carry a copy of the Rx with the pills. Have them all together in a separate bag (like a gallon sandwich plastic bag, I think that's the requirement...?)
If it's in your bag, presented as such, it's doubtful that there will be any question, and I doubt they would even pull them out of your bag for inspection. The airports are insanely busy and they are trying to move people through as safely and quickly as possible.
Do not body pack it, try to "hide" it, or anything like that. The more it's hidden, the more suspicious you look.

If you're carrying it in your stow-away luggage (not carry on) you simply have nothing to worry about, your brother won't see it. When you arrive at the airport, you go to the ticket counter, check your luggage there. The airport counter agent does NOT open your stow-away bags. Never. Those bags are weighed, and a ticket is put on them with the destination. You won't see those bags until you're off the plane, and picking your bag up at the carousel.
They put the bags thru x-rays. When the bags are in a massive pile, at some airports, they will have the dogs take a quick run over them. The dogs are mostly seeking explosives, guns, bombs, or mass amounts of drugs.

As I said - you've essentially nothing at all to worry about - keep the pills in the original bottles, with the copy of the Rx (or at least the pamphlets they came with - with your name on it that matches the name on the bottles, obviously) stick them all in one clear bag, in your stow luggage, and I damn near guarantee you won't hear a thing of it.

Don't consider stuffing you legally prescribed medication in your pants or some other obscure place on your body. That will produce more trouble than keeping it from your family. A lot of airports now have body scanners that will pick up anything hidden on you, even inside of you. Although, I'm not sure if you have to go through them coming into the airport and country. It isn't worth the risk. Put the majority of your prescription in your checked bag, and carry an old bottle with you with a small amount that you may need for the plane ride and all the other bs that goes with flying. I don't know what to do about it to be security safe if you only get prepackaged meds though.

If you're worried about your family finding out, if your strung out, they'll notice something, but if your legitimately using your prescription, don't worry.

Well even in stow away luggage, they can be opened and checked since its an international flight, especially to the US
however they will send you to a separate counter for this and your brother won't see

I just want to throw in my two cents as I recently had to make two quick trips in a 3 week period and had to take suboxone with me (this is domestic US).

The first time, I just put two subs down in my carry-on (Didn't want the medicine to leave me) and had no issues. However, after coming home and on the next flight the following week, I didn't take out my toothpaste. I also had just put the sub right in top of my carry on. I got a second scan and I was sure I had screwed up (Let me add the lady told me when I was digging to get my toothpaste and gels out not to worry), but it came out no problems. However, I had no legal prescription.

So, just to make you feel better, you got legal documentation and valid scripts. You could declare or if I had a small amount, I would just go on and if asked, I could provide documentation. Just my opinion, travel safely and enjoy!
