I tried Google-ing this to see if anyone has done it or even suggested it, but I couldn't find anything.. But its probably been thought before..
I also haven't read about it so far in DMT: The Spirit Molecule, but I'm only a few chapters into it..

Anyway.. why don't they hook up some monitors, or do a CAT scan or MRI on a prison inmate receiving lethal injection to see if the pineal gland does in fact secrete any DMT?Is the chemical they give to kill them some kind of depressant that would shut everything down so the brain couldn't function and proceed with the process??

Just wondering, I dont know where else to ask this but here.
 
Alright Mr.Spice. We gotta make this happen. You google for blueprints, ill gear us up. Worse comes to worst, we snatch the pineal and run.

Seriously though, no magnetic or intra-cranial scanning would detect DMT. You'd need to cut out my pineal gland and test it; in fact, here we gooooooo....
 
Why not skip the scanning and lobotomize the death-row primate then tap a catheter to that gland through the hole? It will be like juicing a lemon.
Although lobotomizing itself might "spiritually impair" the monkey and spring the DMT.

Poor one, let's give him some hardcore analgesics okay?

Correct. That kind of study would never be approved by an IRB anyway. The only way to test the DMT release theory would be to draw blood samples, since such a flood of DMT would be detectable in the bloodstream.

More importantly though, the theory will never be tested because it is absolute nonsense, unsupported by even a thread of scientific evidence, and therefore nobody would fund the study even if it were approved.
 
because "they" don't want us to know all we can about DMT!

errrmmm or is it that scientists that specialize in mind altering chemicals usually have a harder time being taken as seriously as other efforts so they can't usually preform any experiment that they want without great difficulty in even being sanctioned to do so.

silly law, it just changes anyways, the hecks the point of that then, especially if the nature of the mind is timeless!

What about injecting a radioligand with less binding affinity than DMT for some relevant receptor? When DMT is released, the ligand should disperse from areas of the brain where said receptor is concentrated, which would show up on a PET scan.

I kinda took it as a joke to begin with :). hahaha melange man.. that's a story right there.
